Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have become the target of the South Park creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, as revealed in a teaser clip for the upcoming episode of the long-running Comedy Central show.
The second episode of season 26, titled “The Worldwide Privacy Tour,” sees the Prince of Canada and his wife seeking privacy and seclusion in a small mountain town.
In the teaser clip, Kyle expresses his frustration to his friends, exclaiming, “It’s seriously driving me crazy, I’m sick of hearing about them, but I can’t get away from them.
They’re everywhere.
In my fucking face.”
Stan, his best friend, responds with indifference, stating, “Look Kyle, we just kinda don’t care about some dumb prince and his stupid wife.”
With nearly 1.5 million viewers per episode, it’s likely that many share the same sentiments as expressed in South Park.
The timing of this episode is noteworthy, as it follows Prince Harry’s press tour for his memoir, “Spare,” and the launch of the couple’s Netflix docuseries, “Harry and Meghan,” as well as Meghan’s podcast, “Archetypes.”
Despite their requests for privacy, the couple continues to face public scrutiny.
The American media’s response to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has drastically changed since their interview with Oprah Winfrey two years ago.
Following the release of Harry’s memoir, their popularity has plummeted both in the UK and the US.
The prince’s revelations, such as disclosing private conversations with family members and sharing intimate details about his military experiences, have exposed him to ridicule not seen since his move to the US in 2020.
After the couple’s interview with Oprah, during which they made serious claims, including allegations about discussions regarding their future children’s skin color, the fallout was significant.
The Queen even issued a rare statement acknowledging that recollections may vary.
However, the mocking and ridicule following the release of “Spare” have intensified across the US entertainment media spectrum.
Late-night talk show hosts have parodied readings from the prince’s book, and award show hosts have made jokes at their expense.
According to commentator Kevin O’Sullivan from TalkTV, Americans are growing tired of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s complaints.
O’Sullivan believes that the story about Harry losing his virginity in a field has shattered the royal fairytale for Americans.
He points out that Americans can be more conservative compared to Britons when it comes to such matters.
This decline in popularity is not limited to the US.
Polls show that Meghan and Harry’s favorability ratings have also dropped significantly in their home country.
A recent poll conducted by Redfield and Wilton for Newsweek surveyed 2,000 eligible US voters and revealed that Prince Harry’s favorability rating dropped by 45 points, while Meghan’s dropped by 36 points.
As the South Park episode airs, it remains to be seen how Prince Harry and Meghan will respond to the latest round of mockery.
The couple’s quest for privacy continues to be challenged, and their dwindling popularity suggests that public opinion may be turning against them.
