Less than 1 million viewers tuned in to watch the official trailer of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s highly anticipated Netflix documentary within the first 10 hours of its release.
However, the couple faced criticism as more than 30,000 people disliked the video on YouTube.
At present, the number of dislikes has reached a staggering 48,000.
There were claims that the dislike button was disabled, but this could not be confirmed.
On the other hand, over 5,000 individuals took the time to comment on the trailer, with a majority of them mocking the Sussexes.
One user commented, “I’ve never seen such a public attempt at privacy,” expressing their disbelief at the couple’s actions.
However, there were also those who praised Netflix for keeping the comments section open, allowing viewers to voice their opinions freely.
Despite this, the Sussexes faced strong criticism for releasing the trailer while Prince William and Princess Catherine were visiting the United States.
Among the comments, one person sarcastically remarked, “Something to miss.
I think I have paint to watch dry.
It will have more integrity.”
Another individual urged the couple to move on with their lives and stop causing harm to their family.
They even contemplated canceling their Netflix membership.
Another viewer accused the show of exploiting the death of Her Majesty and criticized it for lacking credibility and class.
Piers Morgan, a well-known television personality, expressed his outrage over the trailer, labeling Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as repulsive hypocrites.
He furiously tweeted, “Imagine bleating about privacy then doing a kiss and tell reality series about your private lives.
Then imagine preaching compassion as you trash your family again.
Then imagine releasing the first trailer deliberately to ruin your brother’s big trip to America.
Repulsive hypocrites.”
Many agreed with Piers, with one person describing Meghan as a spoilt individual who craved attention.
Samantha, Meghan Markle’s estranged half-sister, also shared her thoughts on the trailer during an interview with UK Great Britain News.
Samantha criticized Prince Harry’s statement in the teaser, where he claimed to have done everything to protect his family.
She argued that their actions did not align with the concept of protection and instead felt like a series of attacks.
Samantha further described the Netflix promo as atrocious and disconnected from reality, comparing it to a poorly executed commercial.
In addition, friends of Prince William and Princess Catherine expressed their disgust at how the couple was portrayed in the trailer.
Richard Eden, a journalist from The Mail, revealed that they were sickened by what they saw.
He personally felt appalled by the trailer, stating that it confirmed their worst fears.
According to Richard, Harry and Meghan deliberately aimed to overshadow Prince William and Catherine, who were in the US for a visit ahead of William’s Earthshot Prize reception.
The release of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Netflix documentary trailer has certainly sparked a wave of mixed reactions.
While some viewers expressed disappointment and criticized the couple’s actions, others defended their right to share their story.
As the documentary continues to generate buzz, it remains to be seen how it will be received by the public when it finally premieres.
