Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been dealt another blow as it has been revealed that their children have not been invited to the upcoming coronation.
Despite receiving an invitation to the wedding on May 6, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not yet confirmed their attendance.
This news comes as a surprise, considering the couple’s recent announcement that they had received an invitation from the monarch.
However, according to letters from Buckingham Palace, there was no mention of Prince Archie Harrison, 3, and Princess Lilibet Diana, 1, being invited to the wedding, as reported by the Sunday Telegraph.
The lack of clarity regarding the children’s attendance has left Harry and Meghan in the dark.
They claim to have not received any information about whether their kids would be allowed to join them at the ceremony, which is set to take place in eight weeks’ time.
A royal insider noted that Archie and Lilibet are still very young and may struggle to handle the formalities of such an event.
On the other hand, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince George, 9, are expected to attend, as are the five grandchildren of Queen Consort Camilla.
Meanwhile, there is speculation surrounding whether Prince Louis, who will turn five in a month, will be brought to the coronation by the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Meghan and Harry may decide that it would be too overwhelming for their young children to attend.
Instead, they plan to celebrate Archie’s fourth birthday, which falls on the same day as the coronation, for most of the day after the service.
However, history shows that young members of the royal family have attended similar events in the past.
When the late Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in 1953, her son, the future King Charles, was only four years old, and Princess Anne was just three.
The news of the children’s exclusion from the coronation comes after reports that the royal family is keen to keep Harry and Meghan at arm’s length during the majority of the ceremony.
According to a family friend, other members of the family are hoping that the couple will be seated in Iceland and kept out of the spotlight on the king’s special day.
There seems to be a growing divide within the family, with some expressing their desire to distance themselves from Harry and Meghan.
However, if they must interact with them at the coronation, they will do so reluctantly.
While Buckingham Palace has yet to comment on the matter, it is expected that the queen consort’s older children, who are slightly older than George and Charlotte, will be included in the service.
Camilla’s son, Tom Parker Bowles, has two teenage children, aged 15 and 13, while her daughter, Laura Lopez, has a 15-year-old daughter and two 12-year-old sons.
Nevertheless, George and Charlotte are likely to take part in the festivities, as they have been seen accompanying their parents at public events more frequently in recent years.
In other news, Meghan Markle has described Autumn Kelly as her ideal supporter and role model.
Autumn, a Canadian native, is married to Peter Phillips, the eldest child of Princess Anne.
An analyst has suggested a potential connection between Autumn and Meghan, citing Autumn’s calm and fun-filled demeanor at royal events as a possible reason for their bond.
The two were photographed together on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during Trooping the Colour shortly after Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.
As the coronation draws near, the absence of Harry and Meghan’s children from the guest list raises questions about their standing within the royal family.
While some relatives may be turning their backs on them, it remains to be seen how this will impact their relationship with the rest of the family in the long run.
