In a new Netflix special, comedian Chris Rock has taken a satirical approach to Meghan Markle’s claim about an unnamed royal expressing concerns regarding Archie’s skin colour.
During her interview with Oprah Winfrey, Markle accused a member of the royal family of racism and revealed that she felt isolated within the royal household.
Rock ruthlessly mocked Markle’s claim, suggesting that she was simply dealing with typical in-law issues and jokingly mentioning that she had won the “light-skinned lottery.”
He further added that even black people were curious about the child’s complexion.
During a segment on victimhood, Rock humorously questioned who Meghan Markle really was, describing her as a nice lady who seemed to complain a lot.
He then delved into her infamous interview with Oprah, mimicking Markle’s words, “They’re so racist, they’re so racist.”
Rock playfully dismissed some of the challenges she faced, labeling them as mere in-law problems.
He continued with a mock impression of Meghan saying, “Oprah, they’re so racist, they wanted to know how brown the baby was going to be.”
Rock humorously pointed out that even black people were interested in the child’s appearance, jokingly stating that they would check behind the ears as a scientific test to determine the level of melanin.
Rock claimed to understand Markle’s dilemma, referring to her as a black girl trying to gain acceptance from her white in-laws.
However, he humorously highlighted that it was not as difficult as a white girl trying to be accepted by her black in-laws.
To conclude his bit, Rock suggested that Meghan should have married into the Kardashian family, known for their acceptance of everyone.
Prince Harry denied allegations that Meghan was accusing the royal family of racism during an interview with journalist Tom Bradby in January.
When asked about Meghan’s remarks to Oprah, Harry explained the difference between racism and unconscious bias based on his own experiences.
In the interview, Meghan revealed that conversations were held during her pregnancy about Archie not being given security, a title, and concerns regarding the darkness of his skin when he was born.
However, she chose not to disclose the identity of the individual who made these remarks, as she believed it would be damaging to them.
This satirical take on Meghan Markle’s race claim by Chris Rock follows a recent spoof of Prince Harry and Meghan in the latest season of South Park.
The show depicted them as A Prince and Princess of Canada, embarking on a worldwide privacy tour.
