Variety’s Power of Women event took place at Citizen News in Los Angeles on Thursday night, attracting a host of stars eager to honor the achievements of women in entertainment.
Among the esteemed honorees were Carey Mulligan, Fantasia Barrino, Lily Gladstone, and Billie Eilish, who graced the stage with a performance of “What Was I Made For” alongside her brother Finesse O’Connell.
The Lucky Chap co-founders Margaret Robbie, Tom Ackley, and Josie McNamara were also recognized with the Producer of the Year award, while Emily Blunt received the Power of Women Alumni Award from premier partner Wells Fargo.
Notable personalities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Dua Lipa, Emerald Fennell, Ariana Greenblatt, and Oprah Winfrey were present to introduce the honorees at the Variety Power of Women event presented by Lifetime.
The star-studded red carpet saw the arrival of numerous celebrities, including Meghan Markle, Greta Leigh, Riley Keough, Sophia Carson, Emma Myers, Diane Warren, Addison Rae, Madison Bailey, and Tia Mowry, among others.
According to sources in Hollywood, Meghan Markle secured her ticket to the event through WME’s demand.
Given her long absence from the entertainment industry, one might wonder why she was invited to a ceremony celebrating the accomplishments of women in entertainment.
The answer is simple: she bought a seat.
However, it seems that Meghan Markle was largely ignored by her fellow celebrities at the gala.
In fact, some even went out of their way to avoid her and pushed her aside during photo opportunities.
A video posted by Variety captured Meghan Markle posing on the red carpet in a camel off-the-shoulder dress, sporting a slicked bun.
She seemed completely engrossed in posing for the cameras, oblivious to the need to make way for other guests to have their photos taken.
Meghan was determined to steal the spotlight from the well-known personalities in attendance, but her actions were met with resistance.
One guest can be seen in the video extending their hand and forcefully pushing her off the stage.
It appears that Meghan Markle was seeking to extend her moment of fame.
Her behavior seemed awkward, as if she were trying to pose like a lesser-known celebrity, making exaggerated poses that betrayed a thirst for attention.
However, she quickly remembered her royal status and tried to regain her composure.
It is unclear whether she had undergone extensive preparation, or if it was simply the result of skillful lighting, filters, or photographers.
Notably, Meghan Markle was not invited to present an award or perform any official duties at the event.
She seemed to be there solely to pose on the red carpet and promote her previous work on the television series “Suits.”
This return to her former role as an actress suggests a regression to her hustling days in the industry.
Surprisingly, while guests mingled and took photos with each other throughout the gala, no one seemed interested in posing with Meghan, except for Janet Yang, Ampass president, and Perlina, chairman of Universal Studio Group.
These two individuals happened to be seated at the same table as Meghan and agreed to take a photo with her.
Furthermore, Meghan had her own personal photographer present, with whom she had made arrangements to sell the clearest photos to the media.
