In a past incident, Peter Phillips and his cousin Prince William received a stern scolding from Queen Elizabeth II after their mischievous behavior almost caused harm to Peter’s sister, Zara Tindall.
The revelation came to light during an interview with the heir to the throne for a Sky News documentary commemorating the late Queen’s 90th birthday in 2016.
The trouble began when Peter and William decided to ride a quad bike at Balmoral, Queen Elizabeth’s beloved summer retreat.
They playfully chased Zara, who was on a go-kart, and inadvertently herded her into a lamppost.
Unfortunately, the lamppost toppled, posing a serious threat to Zara’s safety.
To their misfortune, it was Queen Elizabeth who witnessed the incident firsthand.
Recalling the event, Prince William shared, “The lamppost came down and nearly squashed her, and I remember my grandmother being the first person out at Balmoral running across the lawn in her kilt.”
The Queen swiftly reprimanded the mischievous duo, leaving a lasting impression on William’s memory.
Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne, seemed to have a cheeky streak during his younger years and often found himself embroiled in mischief alongside his cousins, William and Harry.
In a 2016 interview on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, Peter fondly reminisced about their shared childhood experiences with Queen Elizabeth at Sandringham, Balmoral, and Windsor.
“We had great fun growing up on our holidays,” Peter admitted.
“There was a lot of space for kids to run around in, and it wasn’t just us—it was the Waleses, William and Harry, Freddie and Ella Windsor, and the Gloucesters.
So there was quite a gang of us growing up in that age, and it was a lot of fun.
We caused quite a bit of mayhem and chaos, but fortunately, I don’t think we broke too much.”
Despite the occasional misadventures, Peter expressed gratitude for the cherished memories they created during their time with Queen Elizabeth.
The royal family’s holidays provided ample opportunities for the young cousins to bond and enjoy each other’s company.
On his 46th birthday today, Peter Phillips can reflect on his mischievous past alongside Prince William and be thankful for the lessons learned from Queen Elizabeth’s stern scolding.
Their youthful antics may have caused chaos at times, but ultimately, they were fortunate to have shared such memorable experiences within the royal family.
