The Royal Family recently came together in a solemn vigil to honor the late Queen Elizabeth II.
King Charles III, Prince Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward donned military uniforms for the Vigil of the Princes, with a special exception made for Andrew.
Princess Anne, in particular, appeared to be fighting back emotions as she stood vigil for her mother.
Alongside her siblings, Prince Andrew, King Charles, and Prince Edward, Princess Anne stood in silence for 15 minutes, paying their respects to the Queen.
With her head bowed, she held back any visible signs of emotion as she stood beside her mother’s coffin.
On Monday, September 12th, all four of Queen Elizabeth II’s children gathered around her coffin for the vigil, which took place inside St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh.
This marked the first time a female member of the royal family had attended such an event.
The tradition, known as the Vigil of the Prince, has occurred twice before.
In 2002, the late Queen Mother’s four grandsons stood guard over her coffin, and in 1936, King George’s five sons carried out the first tribute for their father.
As mourners paid their respects to the late monarch, King Charles and his siblings stood by the coffin in a solemn vigil lasting 10 minutes.
The vigil held today lasted 15 minutes, allowing for a longer period of reflection and remembrance.
Princess Anne wore her Navy Ceremonial uniform during Monday’s vigil.
Although she did not serve in the military herself, like many royals, she holds various military honors and titles.
The uniform she wore is a Royal Navy Ceremonial uniform.
Over the years, she has been appointed as a Rear Admiral, Vice Admiral, and finally Admiral.
In addition, she holds military titles across the Commonwealth, including Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Canadian Navy and Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Australian Corps of Transport.
The Royal Family appreciates the support and condolences they have received during this difficult time.
As the Royal Family continues to mourn, it is important for us to stand by them and offer our support.
