Former Tory MP, Louise Mensch, has accused Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of hypocrisy, claiming that people are growing tired of them.
Mensch, who served as MP for Corby from 2010 to 2012 before moving to New York, made the comments during an interview with Piers Morgan on Sky News Australia.
She stated that while the couple may sell a lot of books, they have sacrificed whatever credibility they had.
The discussion arose following a recent episode of South Park titled “Worldwide Privacy Tour,” where the Prince and Princess of Canada were parodied for their claims of desiring privacy while simultaneously seeking attention.
In the South Park episode, the cover of their book, “Wag,” bears a striking resemblance to Harry’s autobiography, “Spare,” which was released last month.
Mensch emphasized that although the couple may generate interest due to their gossip-worthy lives, they have ultimately lost their credibility.
Responding to rumors that the Sussexes were planning to sue over the parody, a spokesperson for the couple dismissed the claims as baseless and boring reports.
The cartoon comedy show depicted the Prince and Princess appearing on the TV chat show, Good Morning Canada, holding signs that read, “We want our privacy, stop looking at us.”
They also embarked on a tour to various locations around the world in their pursuit of privacy.
During their interview with Oprah in 2021, Meghan addressed the issue of privacy, stating that everyone has a basic right to it.
She compared it to having a photograph of one’s child on a desk at work and being selective about sharing it.
If someone were to demand access to all the pictures, it would be seen as an invasion of privacy.
The release of Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary series in December further fueled the controversy.
Their global press secretary released a statement emphasizing that their decision to step back from royal duties had nothing to do with bribery, and they remained committed to their public responsibilities.
The couple wanted to share their story on their own terms, yet the tabloid media continued to perpetuate an untrue narrative that influenced public opinion.
The question arises: Are Harry and Meghan using their royal status for publicity?
Many are growing weary of their alleged hypocrisy and the victim game they seem to play.
