The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, are facing a significant backlash in Hollywood after the release of Omid Scobie’s new book, Endgame.
According to royal expert Kinsey Schofield, their star power is diminishing as the couple finds themselves at the center of controversy once again.
The turmoil began when Meghan revealed to Oprah Winfrey in 2021 that a senior member of the royal family had expressed concerns about the color of their son Archie’s skin before his birth.
This issue was reignited when the Dutch version of Endgame named two senior royals allegedly involved in the matter.
However, Scobie asserts that he never explicitly identified any specific royal in connection with the incident.
Despite being labeled as Meghan and Harry’s mouthpiece, both Scobie and the couple have denied any influence over the content of the book.
Nevertheless, the soap opera-like drama surrounding the British monarchy, which captivates many Americans, may prove detrimental to Meghan and Harry’s popularity among their peers in Tinseltown, according to Schofield.
In Montecito, where the couple currently resides, their star seems to have significantly faded.
Local bookstores have shown little interest in stocking Endgame, and Schofield reports that their neighbors are appalled by how the couple appears to be treating their family.
Speaking to GB News, Schofield highlighted a report from The Times, revealing that Montecito bookstores are not carrying the book due to lack of demand and that the community feels the couple is disrespecting their elders and behaving cruelly towards their family members.
Meghan and Harry relocated to California in 2020 following their fallout with the rest of the royal family.
They now reside in Montecito with their two children, four-year-old Prince Archie and two-year-old Princess Lilibet.
Since their departure from the royal family, the Duke and Duchess have embarked on various media ventures, including a Netflix docuseries released in December 2022.
However, Prince Harry made a significant impact with the release of his tell-all memoir, Spare, in January, which criticized several members of the royal family.
Although Meghan, Harry, and Scobie maintain that the couple had no involvement in Endgame, the book has reignited scrutiny of their previous claims, particularly regarding the royal race row.
The controversy surrounding the Sussexes shows no signs of abating, and their standing among their Hollywood peers may continue to suffer as a result.
