Archie and Lilibet, the children of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have reportedly not been extended an official invitation to the upcoming coronation.
However, according to sources, the grandchildren of Queen Consort Camilla will be in attendance.
It seems that once again, the royal family has chosen to overlook Harry and Meghan, expressing their hope that the couple will be seated in Iceland during the ceremony.
Although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have received invitations and are expected to grace the event on May 6, certain family members have privately indicated that they will give them the cold shoulder.
It appears that some members of the royal family are secretly hoping that if Harry and Meghan do attend the coronation of King Charles and Camilla, they will be seated far away, in Iceland, as a further slight.
While the palace authorities have deemed the Sussexes’ children too young to participate in the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, it is likely that Archie, who turns four on May 6, and Lilibet, now a prince and princess, will spend part of the day celebrating their son’s birthday.
Nevertheless, the decision to exclude them from the coronation is bound to raise tensions, regardless of whether Harry and Meghan intended to bring their young children along.
As the future king, Prince George, aged 9, is expected to play an official role, and it is now predicted that Princess Charlotte, who will celebrate her birthday just before the wedding, will also attend.
The possible attendance of Prince Louis, who turns five in April, is still under consideration by the Prince and Princess of Wales.
However, reports suggest that he is likely to be present.
According to the Sunday Telegraph, Camilla’s grandchildren, who are twins and aged 13, are set to participate in and witness their grandmother’s and step-grandfather’s coronation.
Tom Parker Bowles, the queen consort’s son, and Laura Lopez, her daughter, are the proud parents of these twins.
It is believed that Camilla had hoped they would have a role in placing the canopy over her during the anointing.
A source at Buckingham Palace informed the Sunday Times that it would be deemed entirely unacceptable to acknowledge the involvement of the queen consort’s grandchildren without mentioning the roles of her husband’s grandchildren.
Consequently, it seems that some family members are not interested in interacting with Harry and Meghan anymore and have no intention of inviting them to participate in the official balcony appearance.
One family friend disclosed that several relatives will turn their backs on the couple, stating, “I hope they’ll be seated in Iceland.”
Many members of the family simply do not wish to engage with them any longer.
They have no desire to socialize with Harry and Meghan, but if they must encounter them at the coronation, so be it.
Since stepping down from their royal duties three years ago, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been involved in a media campaign against their own family, participating in numerous interviews.
In a recent controversial interview with trauma therapist Gaber Mate, Prince Harry revealed that he had learned a new language of therapy but found that his family did not understand this language.
As the countdown to the coronation continues, the royal family is currently preparing for the impending arrival of the Sussexes in less than two months.
The couple is expected to stay at Frogmore Cottage during their visit.
Although their lease on the Windsor Estate property expires at the end of March, they have been granted permission to remain there for a few more months while they sort their belongings and make arrangements for their move to California.
Last week, when Harry and Meghan announced that their daughter Lilibet had been baptized in Montecito, they also revealed that their children would now hold the titles of Prince and Princess.
This change was made possible since they are grandchildren of a reigning monarch.
The official royal website has updated their titles accordingly.
It is anticipated that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will be able to use their HRH status in the future.
