In a warm gesture, the Duke of Sussex personally called his father on Tuesday to convey his regards on this momentous occasion.
According to the Telegraph, Meghan Markle also had a conversation with the King.
This olive branch extended to King Charles appears to be a significant change in direction for the Sussexes.
Throughout 2023, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had limited contact with senior members of the royal family.
However, despite this recent communication, the couple is still expected to spend Christmas in California, as they have done for the past three years.
While Prince Harry and Meghan have chosen to celebrate the festive season away from the UK, this year will mark a new experience for their children.
Princess Lilibet, who is now two years old, has never spent Christmas in the UK.
On the other hand, four-year-old Archie will have an opportunity to familiarize himself with British traditions, as a royal expert, Katie Nicholl, revealed.
In an interview with GBNews.com, Nicholl shared that Prince Harry is determined to provide his children with a taste of a British Christmas, despite celebrating in the US.
She acknowledged that replicating the traditional royal family Christmas experience would be challenging for the Duke of Sussex.
“I am sure there are moments when Harry must feel homesick.
California is a world away from Britain and a world away from a British Christmas,” Nicholl said.
However, the family will strive to incorporate as many British traditions as possible.
