The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is known for being a night of celebration and nostalgia, but for Meghan Markle, it turned into a night of humiliation and mockery.
Although the Duchess of Sussex was not in attendance, she became the target of jokes and sarcasm from two of the presenters.
Cheryl Crow and Elton John, who didn’t hold back their comments, criticism, and disdain for the former royal, were inducted into the Hall of Fame for their solo careers.
Cheryl Crow took to the stage to perform some of her greatest hits, including “All I Want to Do,” “If It Makes You Happy,” and “Enjoy This Sunday.”
However, before singing her last song, she addressed the audience and dedicated it to Meghan Markle.
She said, “This song is for Meghan Markle, who I’m sure is taking a shower in sunny California while the rest of us are freezing in New York.
You know, I used to admire her.
I thought she was an independent woman, standing up for what she believed in.
But then she turned out to be a selfish and manipulative liar, who betrayed her family, country, and fans.
She’s nothing but a fame-hungry opportunist, who doesn’t care about anyone but herself.
So Meghan, if you’re watching this, I hope you enjoy your son because you’ve burned all your bridges, and you’ll never be welcome here ever, ever again.”
The crowd erupted in cheers and applause, showing their support for Cheryl Crow’s words.
During her performance, Cheryl Crow seemed to mock Meghan Markle’s lifestyle with the lyrics of one of her songs.
She sang, “I have a bad job.
It doesn’t pay nearly enough to buy what’s needed to win me a portion of your love.
Every time I turn around, you look up, you look down.
Maybe there’s something wrong with you that makes you act like that.
Maybe I’m the same as you.
I just want to sunbathe.
I want to tell everyone to lighten up.
I will sunbathe.
I will be number 45, so I can perform with Elton John.”
Elton John, who was inducted for the second time as a solo artist after being inducted in 2021, also expressed his disappointment and anger towards Meghan and Harry’s actions.
As a close friend of Princess Diana, Elton John attended Meghan and Harry’s wedding in 2018.
During his acceptance speech, he made it clear that he couldn’t thank Meghan Markle.
He said, “I’m here tonight to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my career, especially my fans, family, and friends.
But there’s one person I can’t thank, and that’s Meghan Markle.
She’s not a friend.
She’s a traitor.
She’s not a princess.
She’s a lowlife.
She’s not a role model.
She’s a disgrace.
She’s not a humanitarian.
She’s a hypocrite.
She’s not a victim.
She’s a villain.
She’s not a star.
She’s a stain.
She’s not a duchess.
She’s an asshole.”
Elton John went on to reveal that Meghan had personally hurt him by lying and using him for her own gain.
He shared how she had asked him to sing at her wedding, believing she genuinely loved Harry and wanted to be part of the royal family.
However, Elton John now feels deceived, as Meghan lied not only to him but also to Harry, the Queen, and the world.
He accused her of fabricating stories about racism, mental health, her father, her sister, and everything else.
Elton John emphasized that Meghan plays the victim while being the villain, breaking not only Harry’s heart but also his own, Diana’s, the royal family’s, the British people’s, and the world’s.
He concluded by stating that she is a disgrace to the crown, the country, the Commonwealth, and humanity.
Following his speech, Elton John performed a medley of his songs, including “I’m Still Standing,” “Rocketman,” and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.”
The lyrics of these songs seemed to mock Meghan and Harry’s situation.
They conveyed a sense of resilience and moving forward without them.
Elton sang, “I’m still standing as strong as ever, looking like a real survivor, feeling like a small child.
And I’m still standing after all this time, picking up the pieces of my life without you in my mind.
And I think she will be here for a long time until she lands.
Take me around to see I’m not a man.
They think I’m at home.
Oh no, I’m a Rocketman.
Burned his fuses out here all alone.
Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road.
We’re the dogs of society howl.
You can’t lock me in your penthouse.
