In a recent turn of events, popular stand-up comedian Andrew Schultz decided to poke fun at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during his wedding celebration with wife Emma Turner.
While this may seem like an unexpected move, it appears that Schultz had his reasons for bringing up the royal couple.
Emma Turner, known for her food blog called Blistered Peppers, often shares her best recipes and foodie tips on her Instagram account.
Interestingly, Schultz is also involved in the blog and can be seen in the kitchen during her videos.
This shared interest in culinary pursuits seems to be the only common ground between Turner and Meghan Markle, who used to share her favorite recipes and restaurant recommendations on her now-defunct blog, The Tig.
However, in a surprising Instagram post from 2021, Schultz couldn’t resist mentioning Prince Harry and Meghan when announcing his marriage to Turner.
The couple tied the knot in Montecito, California, which also happens to be the residence of the Sussexes.
Schultz’s post included a photo of their wedding, and in the second slide, Turner’s picture managed to surpass Harry and Meghan as the most tagged Montecito photo.
While this may not seem significant to some, it clearly brought joy to Schultz.
It appears that he wanted to establish himself and his wife as the new “royals” in Montecito, at least in the realm of Instagram.
This playful rivalry could be seen as a lighthearted way for Schultz to assert his presence in the community.
But Schultz’s jabs at the Sussexes didn’t end there.
In January 2023, he made a bold statement, claiming that no one cared about Prince Harry and his controversial tell-all book, Spare.
This remark further showcased Schultz’s willingness to comment on the couple and their endeavors.
Most recently, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex became the subject of a joke at the 2024 Globes, courtesy of host Joe Coy.
During his opening speech, Coy playfully referenced Harry’s financial situation, suggesting that the prince had reached out to actress Imelda Staunton, who portrayed Queen Elizabeth II in the TV series “The Crown,” asking for money.
The audience, including Netflix CEO, found the joke amusing, as the streaming giant had signed an £80 million deal with Harry and Meghan in 2020.
Since then, the couple has released their explosive docuseries, “Harry and Meghan,” as well as Harry’s documentary, “Heart of Invictus.”
Additionally, they have acquired the film rights to Carly Fortune’s romantic novel, “Meet Me at the Lake.”
Despite rumors swirling about their future with Netflix, following Spotify’s decision to end their podcast deal, the streaming platform seems to be fully invested in the couple’s content.
In conclusion, Andrew Schultz’s playful jabs at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have garnered attention and sparked conversations.
Whether it was through his wedding photo or his public remarks, Schultz managed to create a light-hearted rivalry that entertained many.
