The highly anticipated Netflix docuseries featuring the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made its debut this morning.
However, according to a specialist, King Charles is unlikely to remove their titles despite the controversial content of the series.
The first three episodes, released on December 8th, promise to shed light on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from the royal family and are expected to reveal shocking revelations.
Recent calls for the couple to lose their royal titles have gained momentum in response to the potential new claims against the royal family.
Nevertheless, Paul McLaurin, a professor of marketing and consumer research at Royal Holloway University of London, believes that King Charles will not take such action.
When asked if the king would strip them of their titles, McLaurin stated, “I don’t believe Charles will take action like that.
I believe he’ll overcome it, depending on the content of the documentary.”
Losing their titles would not only impact Harry and Meghan’s reputation, but also their brand.
Despite no longer being able to use HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) due to their status as Duke and Duchess, they are still considered members of the royal family.
Their decision to step back from senior working roles in 2020 led them to sign lucrative contracts with Netflix and Spotify, estimated to be worth over $100 million.
The docuseries, directed by Oscar-nominated Liz Garbus, provides an in-depth look into the couple’s high-profile love story.
In the trailer, Harry expresses his desire for the complete truth to be known, mentioning a “dirty game” involving leaks and lies within the family hierarchy.
The first episode delves into Harry’s early years in the public eye and his romance with Meghan, lasting a total of 56 minutes.
Rumors circulated that Harry might criticize his stepmother, Queen Consort Camilla, in the series.
However, Professor McLaurin stated that she did not notice any indication of such criticism.
Nevertheless, if Harry were to make a joke about the King’s wife, McLaurin believes Charles would feel compelled to respond.
Will Charles continue to extend a hand of friendship to Harry and Meghan?
Will he strip them of their titles, including their children?
McLaurin predicts that Charles will make an effort to maintain a relationship with them.
In his first speech as King, Charles extended an olive branch to his youngest son and daughter-in-law, expressing his support for their life overseas.
While Charles, William, Camilla, and Kate are not expected to watch the series themselves, royal advisors will be closely monitoring the output and deciding how to react.
The second volume of the series is set for release on December 15th.
Meanwhile, the King and the Royal Family continue to carry out their official responsibilities as usual.
The Sussexes’ Netflix documentary has faced vehement opposition, with many people choosing not to watch it due to their perception that the couple is profiting from their royal connections.
The controversy surrounding the series has caused speculation about its potential threat to the Royal Family.
