Conservative MP Bob Seeley has once again launched a scathing attack on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in a fiery interview on GB News.
Seeley is pushing for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to be stripped of their royal titles due to their alleged criticism of the monarchy in recent times.
Speaking to Gloria De Piero on Gloria Meets, the politician elaborated on his stance, expressing discomfort with the couple’s actions that he believes undermine the royal institution.
During a preview of the interview, Seeley emphasized the importance of respecting the established system and upholding one’s titles with dignity, rather than denigrating them.
He argued that individuals holding royal titles should either fulfill positive roles within the country or lead quiet lives as private citizens, but not engage in activities that tarnish the royal status they possess.
Seeley has outlined a plan to introduce a bill aimed at revoking the Sussexes’ titles, granting the Privy Council the authority to take such action.
He asserted that if Prince Harry continues to disparage the royal family, he should voluntarily relinquish his title; otherwise, legislative measures should be in place to enforce its removal.
The controversy escalated when concerns were raised not only about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle but also their children, Archie and Lilibet.
Calls have emerged from the British public urging for the entire Sussex family, including the children, to be stripped of their titles, citing their perceived irrelevance to the monarchy and the burden they place on taxpayers.
In response to the mounting pressure, Miss Maskell presented a bill in parliament proposing a mechanism for the monarch or a parliamentary committee to strip titles from individuals deemed unworthy holders.
The argument was made that British titles should be exclusively held by British citizens residing in the UK, potentially excluding those with dual citizenship.
While the idea of granting the monarch unilateral power to revoke titles faces resistance in parliament, discussions are underway to streamline the process for such decisions.
Suggestions include establishing a specialized committee or board to assess cases of title-stripping based on recommendations from the monarch, ensuring a collective approach to such significant actions.
In light of the ongoing debate surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal titles, the issue raises fundamental questions about the responsibilities and expectations tied to holding prestigious positions within the British monarchy.
As the discussions unfold, the future of the Sussexes’ titles remains uncertain, with public opinion divided on the appropriate course of action regarding their continued status within the royal family.
