The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made their first public appearance since Kate’s self-isolation today as they watched Ashley Barty emerge victorious in the Wimbledon final.
The Australian player defeated Karolina Pliskova from the Czech Republic in three sets, securing her first Wimbledon title.
This marked the first time in 15 years that a women’s singles final went to three sets.
As the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, the Duchess of Cambridge presented Barty with her trophy.
Joining her in this special moment was the Duke of Kent, President of the All England Club, while the crowd erupted in cheers.
It was a joyous occasion for Kate, who spent her first day out of self-isolation at the game, accompanied by her husband Prince William.
The couple was seen sharing jokes and laughter throughout the event.
Kate’s self-isolation began after being informed of her contact’s positive Covid-19 test last Friday.
She had spent most of the day at Wimbledon, mingling with VIPs such as Tim Henman and Joe Wicks.
Following the necessary seven days of isolation, she returned to public engagements today to witness the clash between top seed Ashley Barty and world number 13 Karolina Pliskova, both competing in their first Wimbledon final.
For the occasion, the Duchess wore an elegant emerald green Amelia Wickstead gown, which had been modified with capped sleeves.
She accessorized her outfit with a cream-colored handbag and matching heels.
In the Royal Box, the Cambridges were joined by the Duke of Kent, who will present his final trophy tomorrow before stepping down as President of the All England Club after an impressive 52 years of service.
While Kate will attend the men’s final on Sunday alone, Prince William is expected to watch the Euros 2020 final between England and Italy at Wembley.
Also spotted at Wimbledon today were Kate’s sister, Pippa, along with their parents, Carol and Michael Middleton.
Pippa opted for a casual blue and white check dress as she enjoyed a family day out at the prestigious tennis tournament.
