The Duchess of Cambridge delighted children during her visit to Orkney, Scotland, alongside her husband, Prince William.
As they arrived at the European Marine Energy Centre, a group of local schoolchildren eagerly awaited their presence.
It was during this encounter that one curious boy asked the Duchess if she was a prince, to which she managed to keep a poker face and replied with a smile, “I’m not a prince.
I’m the Duchess of Cambridge.
Lots of people call me Catherine.”
The interaction continued as another little girl shouted out, proclaiming that the Duchess was a princess.
In response, Kate sweetly asked, “Are you?
Are you a princess?”
When the girl shook her head, the Duchess complimented her beautiful pink coat, saying, “Oh, you look like one in your beautiful pink coat.
It’s very nice to meet you all.”
She then engaged the children further by asking if they had been exploring the boats, commenting, “It’s very cool, isn’t it?”
Prince William and Kate, who left their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, in London for their whirlwind tour of Scotland, visited the Energy Centre to gain insights into Orkney’s efforts towards achieving carbon zero and hydrogen power.
As part of their visit, they took a boat trip to witness the world’s largest tidal energy turbine, the 2MW O2.
During the engagement, the Duchess opted for a more casual attire, wearing a Sealand Woodcock advanced jacket, blue jeans, and brown ankle boots.
Earlier in the day, the royal couple officially opened the Balfour Hospital in Kirkle.
The hospital, which replaced the old one that had served the community for 90 years, began operating in 2019.
The Duke and Duchess met with several NHS staff members to hear about their experiences over the past year.
Kate looked stunning in a camel Massimo Dutti coat paired with a matching jumper and wide-leg trousers.
