The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have recently marked a significant milestone in their lives as they celebrated their silver wedding anniversary.

Having exchanged vows on the 19th of June in 1999 at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, the royal couple has now been happily married for 25 years.

Captured in a series of intimate portraits by photographer Chris Jelf within the serene gardens of their Bagshot Park residence in Surrey, Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie radiated pure marital joy.

In a heartwarming gesture, the couple unveiled two new portraits to commemorate their special occasion.

The first image depicted Edward tenderly embracing Sophie, his arms enveloping her waist as she affectionately rested her hands on his.

The second portrait showcased the pair sharing a loving gaze while standing on the steps of their garden, surrounded by blossoms of white and pink flowers.

The journey of Prince Edward and Sophie began in the early 1990s when they first crossed paths at a tennis event, eventually leading to a blossoming romance.

Following years of courtship, the couple announced their engagement in January 1999, showcasing Sophie’s exquisite Asprey and Garrard white gold ring valued at approximately £105,000, featuring a central oval diamond flanked by two smaller heart-shaped diamonds.

Their wedding day in 1999 saw a relaxed and joyous affair at Windsor Castle, devoid of ceremonial state or military formalities.
