The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, made a stunning appearance at the James Bond premiere last night.
Today, they continued to captivate as they visited Derry Londonderry in Northern Ireland.
Kate once again stole the show as she fearlessly held a tarantula spider named Charlotte, allowing it to crawl on her hands while Prince William observed with a hint of nervousness.
Their visit to Northern Ireland focused on engaging with young people and learning about organizations that promote positive relations across communities.
Their first stop was at Ulster University’s Magee campus, where they interacted with students and encountered various creatures at the kids’ farm wellbeing petting zoo.
Among the animals were a snake, baby chicks, and the attention-grabbing tarantula.
Following their glamorous appearance at the Bond premiere, Kate opted for a vibrant magenta trouser suit by Amelia Wickstead, paired with a dark roll neck jumper and a ponytail hairstyle.
As they observed chickens in cages, Kate shared with the pet handler that they had acquired many animals during lockdown, emphasizing how animals can provide therapeutic relief during challenging times.
William mentioned their collection of chickens, highlighting their shared love for animals.
While exploring the zoo, Kate’s curiosity led her to a tarantula in a cage.
Eagerly, she asked if she could hold the tarantula, inquiring about its name.
Learning that it was called Charlotte, Kate chuckled and playfully questioned the accuracy of the name.
As the spider began to move up her hand, William jokingly attributed its animation to Kate’s outfit, suggesting that the spider may not be fond of purple or perhaps mistook Kate for a flower.
William himself was given a female snake to hold, expressing his fascination and mentioning that their son, George, would be disappointed to have missed the opportunity.
At the university, the royal couple reunited with nursing students whom they had spoken to earlier in the year through a video call.
They listened to the students’ experiences of studying during the pandemic.
Additionally, they explored a specially designed simulated ambulance, the only one of its kind in the region, which serves as a training tool for first-year students.
During their visit, William and Kate indulged in Northern Irish cuisine, sampling whisky, wheat and bread, and tatoe crisps.
They also embraced the local culture by learning some regional expressions.
To conclude their visit, they enjoyed the performances of talented music students who showcased their skills with traditional instruments.
Later in the day, the couple visited the Derry Rugby Club, where they interacted with players, coaches, and volunteers participating in the Uniting Communities Initiative.
They even tried their hand at the game, engaging in some friendly competition.
