In a recent discussion, royal commentator Angela Levin expressed her concerns regarding the upcoming visit of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to Colombia.
This trip, slated for later this year, is expected to stir discontent within the royal family, particularly with Prince William and King Charles III.
Levin shared her thoughts during an interview on GB News with host Darren Grimes.
This journey marks the couple’s second official outing in 2023, following their earlier trip to Nigeria in May.
Despite their efforts to engage with global issues, both trips have faced scrutiny, with many questioning the appropriateness of their quasi-royal status outside the working monarchy.
Levin emphasized that these excursions are more of a headache for the royal family than a representation of it.
Levin pointed out that the couple’s presence in Colombia might not resonate well with the royal family’s image.
She argued that until they fully detach themselves from royal duties, their actions could be seen as overstepping boundaries.
“It’s bound to irritate the King and frustrate the Prince of Wales,” she noted, suggesting that their lavish accommodations—reportedly costing four figures per night—only add fuel to the fire.
The royal expert raised eyebrows over the fact that the Duchess of Sussex is set to meet with Colombia’s Vice President, Francia Márquez, who has been a vocal advocate for women’s rights.
Levin found it surprising that the royal family, with whom Meghan has maintained close ties, didn’t seem to oppose this meeting.
“It’s astonishing that they would allow this, especially given her past complaints about how women are treated,” Levin remarked.
While the Duchess seeks to address significant social issues, Levin expressed concern that the royal connection complicates matters.
“The real world can’t be that much worse than it seems, but there’s always a risk involved,” she cautioned.
