The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, have found themselves in yet another embarrassing situation during their ill-fated trip to Jamaica.
It has recently come to light that the royal couple begged a Jamaican minister for a private jet ride back to the US after being left stranded on the island.
This incident adds to the growing list of mishaps and controversies surrounding their visit.
Harry and Meghan had attended the premiere of the Bob Marley biopic, One Love, in Kingston on Tuesday night.
Their original plan was to fly back to California on a private jet owned by Brian Robbins, the CEO of Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon, who had extended the invitation to them.
Unfortunately, Robbins had to leave Jamaica earlier than expected due to a family emergency and could not accommodate the Sussexes on his jet.
With no alternative flights booked, the royal couple found themselves in a state of panic as they realized they had no means of returning to their mansion in Montecito.
Desperate to find a solution, they attempted to charter another private jet but were unsuccessful.
Most of the available jets were either too expensive or too small to accommodate their entourage.
In a last-ditch effort, Harry and Meghan reached out to Marlene Malahou-Forte, Jamaica’s Minister for Legal and Constitutional Affairs, who also attended the premiere and posed with them on the red carpet.
They asked Malahou-Forte, who owns a private jet, if she could lend them her aircraft or assist in finding an alternative.
However, Malahou-Forte, known for her staunch Republican beliefs and vocal criticism of the monarchy, was unimpressed by their plea and refused to help.
Malahou-Forte firmly stated that she had no obligation to assist them and emphasized that better planning on their part would have avoided this predicament.
She also expressed her disapproval of their presence in Jamaica, accusing them of disrespect and insensitivity towards the Jamaican people and their aspirations for independence.
The rejection from Malahou-Forte left Harry and Meghan shocked and humiliated.
They had no choice but to book a commercial flight back to the US, which cost them over $10,000.
Waiting at the airport for several hours, they endured the stares and whispers of fellow passengers who recognized them and wondered why they were flying economy.
This incident has not only exposed the lack of foresight and preparation on the part of Harry and Meghan but also highlighted their dependence on others for their travel arrangements.
It further revealed their isolation and unpopularity, as they failed to garner any support or sympathy from the Jamaican authorities or the public.
Social media platforms have been flooded with criticism and ridicule for the couple, with many users calling them out for their incompetence and arrogance.
One Twitter user wrote, “Harry and Meghan are so pathetic and clueless.
They think they can fly around the world on other people’s jets, but they can’t even plan their own trip.
They have no idea how to live in the real world.
They should be ashamed of themselves.”
Another user praised Malahou-Forte, stating, “Marlene Malihou-Forte is a legend and a hero.
She has every right to refuse Harry and Meghan, who are nothing but fame-hungry leeches.
They have no respect for Jamaica or its people.
They should go back to their mansion in California and leave us alone.”
As of now, Harry and Meghan have not commented on the incident or offered any apologies to Malahou-Forte or the Jamaican people.
It remains uncertain whether they will return to Jamaica in the future or avoid the country altogether.
