The Gienko Foundation recently hosted its annual Hollywood Gala at the One Hotel on Friday, September 29th.
The event aimed to raise funds for programs that support vulnerable women and children in Nigeria.
The proceeds from the gala will specifically go towards the David Oyelowo Leadership Scholarship for Girls, which provides comprehensive support to young female victims of gender inequality in Nigeria.
This unique scholarship program offers full tuition, housing, healthcare, and social care to brilliant girls facing challenging circumstances.
Furthermore, the donations received will also contribute to Gienko’s upcoming Special Surgical Mission to Nigeria in November 2023.
This mission aims to provide much-needed surgical assistance to those in need.
The Hollywood Gala garnered support from prominent figures in the entertainment industry, including Benedict Cumberbatch as the Honorary Chair, Chiwetel Ejiofor and David Oyelowo as Gala Chairs, and Foleke Oluwefeku as the Gala Chair and previous Gala honorees.
Additionally, Oscar winners Charlize Theron and Forrest Whitaker have also shown their support for the foundation.
It is worth noting that Meghan and Harry, despite their previous donation to Gienko in support of 2,500 school girls in Nigeria, were not invited to attend the Foundation’s Gala.
The report regarding their donation raised questions about the number of filled backpacks that were funded.
While the photo showed 15 girls with backpacks, the report specified that 2,500 girls would be educated about menstrual health.
This discrepancy caught the attention of many.
According to a source on Blind Item, Afem Onyema, the CEO of Gienko Foundation, expressed his gratitude to all those who have contributed significantly to the organization during his speech.
However, he did not mention Meghan and Harry’s contribution.
When asked by a reporter about the Sussexes’ donation, the CEO responded by stating that they had only provided a minimal number of backpacks to limit expenditure.
He further explained that the inclusion of the 2,500 number was intended to obscure the actual facts.
It appears that while there were only 15 backpacks, the total donations amounted to $2 million.
Experts believe that Meghan’s recent scandal involving New York students, coupled with the exposure of her alleged fraud by the Gienko Foundation, may negatively impact her chances in the upcoming election following Dianne Feinstein’s death.
Dianne Feinstein, a senator from California who served for 30 years, recently passed away.
Meghan has been actively positioning herself as a potential replacement, engaging in various political causes and even contacting Republican senators about family leave.
However, her use of a royal title, such as the Duchess of Sussex, holds little significance in the United States, where Americans do not recognize such titles.
It has long been speculated that Meghan has been eyeing a career in politics since her arrival in the United States in 2020.
Her ambitions are evident through her involvement in political matters.
However, to pursue a political career, she would have to relinquish her royal title, something she is unlikely to do as it gives her a sense of importance.
In conclusion, the Gienko Foundation’s Hollywood Gala successfully raised funds for programs supporting women and children in Nigeria.
The event’s proceeds will go towards the David Oyelowo Leadership Scholarship for Girls and the upcoming Special Surgical Mission to Nigeria.
Despite their previous donation, Meghan and Harry were not invited to the gala.
