The popular American television legal drama series, Suits, which ran for seven seasons from 2011 to 2018, is getting a spin-off called Suits Los Angeles.
However, there have been rumors circulating that Meghan Markle, who portrayed Rachel Zane in the original series, will not be part of the reboot.
According to Meghan’s PR agency, NBCUniversal has given the green light for the spin-off series, and Erin Kors, the writer of the original show, has already scripted six episodes.
The agency also mentioned that Markle could potentially earn a significant amount, around $200,000 per episode, for her involvement in the profitable spin-off.
They added that she would ensure she is included in the cast, with a captivating wardrobe and numerous close-up shots.
Markle’s representative exclusively told the Express US that the spin-off could be a major Hollywood deal for her, potentially the biggest acting opportunity of the year.
Her talent agency, WME, will negotiate the highest possible rate for her involvement.
However, recently, Neil Sean spoke to two members of the Suits cast who denied the rumors of Meghan Markle’s participation in the reboot.
These actors also expressed their reluctance to be directed by Markle, as she has no prior experience in directing.
They claimed that if Markle were to be involved, her episode would never air, as the actors would leave, the writers would abandon her, and the editing process would remain unfinished.
Among the cast members, Gina Torres and Sarah Rafferty are known for their professionalism and strong work ethic.
Torres, in particular, has responded to Markle’s comments twice, showing her disapproval.
Gabriel Macht, another cast member, made it clear at the recent Emmys that he did not like Markle and preferred not to discuss her.
Apart from Patrick J Adams, it seems that no one else would want Markle to be a part of the reboot.
Markle’s resentment towards her former castmates reportedly stems from the fact that they had better roles than she did during her time on the show.
Now that she is the Duchess of Sussex, Markle seems to take out her frustration in various petty ways.
The cast members must feel disappointed that the show they dedicated their time and talent to has now become “Meghan’s show,” solely because she shamelessly promotes it as such.
The recent Super Bowl commercial for Suits Union, featuring the original cast without Meghan Markle, further supports the notion that she is not involved in the spin-off.
Gina Torres, Rick Hoffman, and Sarah Rafferty have reunited for ALF Cosmetics’ new commercial, which will air during the Super Bowl on February 11th.
Directed by Zach Woods, known for his work on The Office, the ad aims to promote Halo Glow liquid filter complexion booster, the brand’s best-selling product of last year.
The teaser for the commercial features Meghan Trainor, Ronald Gladden from Jury Duty, Emmanuel Acho, and more, but noticeably absent is Meghan Markle, leading to speculation that she has been excluded from the spin-off.
According to the creator of the new Suits series, the reboot will feature all new characters, with the possibility of cameo appearances by the original actors.
However, Markle has not been asked to participate in any capacity.
