In a recent interview with GB News host Dan Wooten, Tom Bauer speculated that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might abandon their Windsor surname in favor of Spencer, Princess Diana’s maiden name.
According to Bauer, this move could be an attempt to align themselves more closely with the late princess.
Bauer believes that the couple is now contemplating relinquishing their Sussex titles and adopting the Spencer surname instead.
This speculation comes amidst rumors that Harry and Meghan are rebranding following their recent commercial disappointments.
“Meghan Markle decided that a real object in life was to be Diana.
That’s always been her passion,” Bauer stated.
Meghan went as far as suggesting that she should drop the name Windsor and take on the surname Spencer, so she would be known as Meghan Spencer or Diana 2.0.
Bauer further alleged that the couple has been discussing their potential name change with others.
“They’re actively trying to recast themselves as Harry and Meghan Spencer,” Bauer claimed.
He asserts that this proposed transformation is all about breaking away, which he believes would also involve relinquishing the Sussex title.
“The image was important, and it’s all now sabotaged.
That’s a great blow to them because they were looking for something new, and now they have to start over.”
It is worth noting, however, that there is a flaw in Harry and Meghan’s logic.
Meghan cannot legally be called Meghan Windsor or Meghan Mountbatten-Windsor since she is not a blood royal.
Legally, she is and always will be Rachel Meghan Markle.
Similarly, Catherine Middleton is still legally Catherine Elizabeth Middleton.
Like Meghan, Catherine is not a blood royal and cannot take her husband’s surname.
If Harry and Meghan were to adopt the Spencer surname, it would likely upset Prince Charles, although it wouldn’t be surprising if that were their intention.
By changing their names, the Sussexes would be challenging Charles.
“This is a desperate stunt to show the world that Meghan is Diana.
Harry couldn’t care less about his father, even less about his brother.
It makes one wonder why he even showed his face at the coronation.
He has Spencer blood, but he’s not one of them, not by a long shot,” Bauer remarked.
Regarding Meghan’s title, it is unlikely that she would willingly forfeit it, as she allegedly changed her passport to reflect her status as the Duchess of Sussex.
She also possesses garment bags with a monogram and DSSOS embossed on a Lady Dior bag.
However, could the Spencer family object in court and prevent Harry from changing his name?
While Spencer is a relatively common name, the Earl cannot restrict its use by individuals who are not entitled to it.
If Harry and Meghan were to pursue this path, Earl Spencer would simply need to issue a public statement stating that the name change was done without his consent and that he finds it an offensive attempt to exploit his name and his late sister’s reputation.
He would make it clear that his nephew and niece-in-law do not represent his family, and the Spencer family does not associate with them.
It is evident that Charles Spencer does not hold Harry in high regard.
“There’s no way in hell Charles Spencer gives a shit about Harry.
Charles doesn’t like the King because of Diana, but he’ll never cross Prince William,” Bauer expressed.
Jane and Sarah, Charles’ sisters, are firmly on the side of the Royals and would confront him if he becomes too friendly with Harry.
While Harry and Meghan may think they can win over Earl Spencer, he will always remain loyal to William.
Prince Charles himself is not fond of Meghan and has grown tired of Harry.
