The vicinity surrounding the couple’s £12 million mansion in Montecito has witnessed a series of break-ins in recent times.
The police suspect an organized gang to be responsible for these incidents, specifically targeting safes.
According to the Daily Mirror, the most recent burglary occurred on Wednesday, just a short five-minute drive away from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s residence.
In response to these alarming events, the Montecito Association has issued an alert to the local community, offering tips on home security.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office also provided a message, emphasizing the need for caution.
Officer Rachel Zicks stated that over the past week, multiple reports of burglaries with striking similarities in terms of location, timing, and stolen items have been received.
The criminals appear to target unoccupied homes situated near open spaces such as golf courses, creeks, streams, or the ocean.
These crimes predominantly occur between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
The most recent burglaries were recorded on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, in the 1500 block of Las Tunas in Montecito, as well as two incidents in the 800 block of Sand Point Lane in Carpinteria.
In all these cases, the suspects focused their attention on safes.
This is not the first time that security concerns have arisen around the Sussex’s mansion.
In July 2022, it was reported that their home had experienced six security alerts within a span of 14 months.
Additionally, on Christmas Eve 2020, an individual allegedly trespassed on the property and was subsequently arrested when he returned two days later on Boxing Day.
During this time, Harry and Meghan were in Jamaica for the premiere of the film “Bob Marley, One Love.”
Their decision to attend the event received criticism, especially as it coincided with health issues announced by both the King and Princess Kate.
Charlotte Griffiths, an editor, expressed her disapproval of the couple’s public appearances in Jamaica.
Speaking on GB News, Griffiths stated, “I think it’s a bit odd, isn’t it?
Because he’s done not one but two public appearances.
