Prince Harry’s plans for peace talks with his father, King Charles III, have been refuted by the Palace, sparking fury from Meghan Markle.
Originally, it was reported that the father and son would privately meet on September 17th, coinciding with the end of the Duke of Sussex’s Victus Games trip to Düsseldorf.
However, it now appears that the expectations for a truce between the feuding royals are unfounded.
According to the Daily Beast, both Charles and William are against the idea of a meeting.
Charles, in particular, feels utterly betrayed by what Harry wrote about him in his book and said about him on his Netflix series.
The King has confirmed that no peace summit has taken place.
Given the circumstances, it is understandable why Charles would not want to meet with his son, who publicly criticized him during Prince Philip’s funeral and mocked his mother’s life.
Over the past year, Harry and Charles have not made any arrangements to speak directly.
Any communication between them goes through lawyers, making a meeting unlikely.
It seems that Harry and Meghan’s PR team fabricated this story in an attempt to portray themselves as a forgiving couple.
However, when blatant lies and false suggestions involving King Charles or Prince William are spread, they tend to get shut down.
William, for his part, would prefer to avoid being in Harry’s company, and the King would not want any potential confrontation before an important trip.
A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as well as Buckingham Palace, did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
Multiple royal experts have expressed doubts about the possibility of a peace summit between Harry and Charles.
Duncan LaCrombe-Lacombe, a royal expert, stated that it would take nothing short of a miracle for the two to repair their relationship.
The tensions between Prince William and Prince Harry are still running high, making it unlikely for King Charles to go behind William’s back and attempt to make peace with Harry.
If a summit were to happen, it would only be on the condition of strict confidentiality, with no details of the conversation being leaked.
Meghan Markle, now the Duchess of Sussex, would not be part of the discussion due to concerns about trust.
The royals do not trust her, and there are valid reasons for that mistrust.
The couple’s decision to step back as senior royals in 2020, citing media intrusion and racism, has further strained their relationship with the monarchy.
In recent years, Harry and Meghan have aired their grievances publicly, most notably during their interview with Oprah Winfrey and through their Netflix docuseries.
Harry’s best-selling memoir, “Spare,” has also added to the tension within the royal family.
With this history of airing grievances, the monarch is understandably cautious.
His focus now is on the future of the monarchy.
According to Christopher Anderson, author of “The King,” King Charles and Queen Camilla are relying on the popularity and trustworthiness of Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and, above all, Prince William and Kate Middleton to shore up the image of the monarchy.
As for Harry’s hopes for peace talks, it seems that they are far from becoming a reality at this time.
