Kate Middleton, along with her husband Prince William, has reportedly decided to close their minds to the possibility of mending the rift with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, according to a royal expert.
Jennie Bond, the former BBC royal correspondent, stated that it was evident that Kate had been hurt and insulted by comments made by Harry and Meghan.
The couple had attempted to reconcile with Harry during Prince Philip’s funeral earlier this year, but after a heated argument, they realized that repairing the family divide was not feasible.
Bond explained to OK Magazine that there comes a point when one must accept that not every family can play the game of happiness.
She acknowledged that Catherine had been deeply affected by the words spoken by Harry and Meghan.
However, she emphasized that Kate and William are a strong team and have concluded that the rift with Harry cannot be resolved in the foreseeable future.
They have chosen to move forward with their lives and closed their minds to the possibility of reconciliation.
The rift between Prince Harry and Prince William initially became apparent in 2019 when they announced that they were pursuing different paths in life.
This divide deepened in January 2020 when Harry and Meghan formally resigned as working members of the Royal Family and relocated to California, where they currently reside.
Despite several visits by Prince Harry back to the UK for significant events such as the deaths of Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth, the rift remains unresolved.
The group, once known as the “Fab Four,” even appeared together in photographs at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in Windsor.
However, tensions have likely escalated due to claims made by Meghan and Harry in a documentary series and in Prince Harry’s memoir, “Spare.”
Bond noted that William can be hot-headed like his father, but Kate is skilled at calming him down.
She believes that William and Kate provide great support to one another, with Kate being an incredible source of encouragement for her husband.
Their marriage is built on enduring friendship, according to the royal expert.
Bond mentioned that William has likely drawn strength from their friendship while coping with the loss of his brother as a companion.
Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace has denied reports suggesting that King Charles might be forced to accommodate Prince Harry at Kensington Palace during his next visit to the UK.
The dispute stems from tensions surrounding Harry’s role as counsellor-of-state, one of the seven members of the royal family who can act as a substitute for the King when he is abroad or unwell.
By law, counsellors of state, including Princess Anne and Prince Edward, must have a residence in the UK.
However, since being evicted from Frogmore Cottage earlier this year, Harry effectively has no home in the country as he currently resides in California.
In an effort to resolve this issue, it was suggested that a property on a royal estate could be leased to Harry and Meghan, with Kensington Palace being one potential option.
However, these suggestions were quickly dismissed by royal sources.
A friend of Charles stated that the King does not want to remove Harry as a counsellor of state, as it would be seen as an act of antagonism.
If necessary, they believe it would be reasonable to allocate a pied-à-terre on a royal estate for Harry.
Buckingham Palace firmly refuted these claims, stating that they are not true.
