In a heartwarming revelation, Carol Middleton, mother of Kate Middleton, has shared her belief in the importance of allowing her royal grandchildren to explore the outdoors and get a little dirty.
It seems that Kate has inherited her mother’s passion for nature and outdoor activities.
During an interview with Saga magazine, Carol expressed her enthusiasm for engaging in garden activities with her grandchildren.
She emphasized the significance of being prepared and having all the necessary tools readily available to avoid losing their interest.
Carol stated, “If I’m doing planting with my grandchildren, I like to have it all laid out at the activity stations with their own little trowel and pot so they can get started immediately.
It’s no good calling children over to an activity, only for you then to have to fuss about looking for the right equipment and clearing a space.
They’ll soon lose interest and slope off.”
Carol firmly believes that it is crucial for children to develop an appreciation for nature, which includes getting a bit muddy.
It appears that Kate shares this sentiment, as she has previously spoken about the significance of spending time outdoors for children’s overall development and well-being.
In June 2019, during an appearance on CBBC’s Blue Peter, Kate revealed that she ensures her three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, spend time outside regardless of the weather.
She emphasized the positive impact it has on their creativity, confidence, and physical well-being.
Kate stated, “Rain or shine, they’re dragged outside.
It’s great.
It encourages creativity, confidence, and even a short amount of time, 10 or 15 minutes, makes a huge difference to physical well-being, but also to our mental well-being.”
As someone who dedicates a part of her royal work to understanding the early years and supporting children’s development and well-being, Kate not only encourages her children but also actively participates in muddy outdoor activities with them.
During her first podcast appearance on Happy Mom, Happy Baby in early 2020, Kate spoke about the importance of spending quality time with her family outside their home.
She explained, “As children, we spent a lot of time outside, and it’s something I’m really passionate about.
I think it’s so great for physical and mental well-being and laying foundations.”
Kate further expressed her desire for her children to remember those moments spent together as a family, enjoying the simple pleasures of life, rather than being overwhelmed by a stressful household.
She emphasized the significance of building strong relationships without the distractions of daily chores.
In her recent interview, Carol also shared her own experience of growing vegetables in her garden, an activity she began during the lockdown.
She highlighted how this endeavor not only teaches children about healthy eating but also allows them to witness the process of food growth and even pick their own produce.
It seems that the love for gardening and healthy snacks runs in the family.
In a BBC Christmas special aired in December 2019, Kate discussed her passion for growing her own vegetables and her children’s fondness for nutritious treats.
