All couples have their fair share of disagreements, whether it’s about household chores, finances, or even who should take out the trash.
It seems that even King Charles and Queen Camilla are not exempt from such squabbles, as they engage in a constant battle over a seemingly trivial matter that resonates with households across the United Kingdom.
According to Royal biographer Robert Hardman’s new book about King Charles, the Queen’s sister, Annabelle Elliot, has revealed that their most frequent row revolves around room temperature.
In the book, Mr. Hardman writes that as a couple, they are both willing to indulge each other’s idiosyncrasies, such as the King’s compulsive need to open windows.
However, this habit often leads to a back-and-forth between the royal pair, with Queen Camilla sneaking in to close the window after the King has opened it.
Annabelle Elliot sheds light on this amusing domestic dispute, stating, “There’s a constant battle about it.
He will have opened it, and she will creep in behind and shut it.
So there’s a lot of ‘Oh darling, you’ve shut the window.’
‘Yes, I have because we’re all freezing.’
A lot of banter like that goes on.”
While the King may usually prevail in this minor disagreement, Elliot reveals that Queen Camilla tends to hold sway in other aspects of their lives.
She asserts that if the King usually emerges victorious in the temperature wars, Queen Camilla triumphs in most other matters.
In the coming weeks, King Charles will rely on Queen Camilla’s support more than ever as he recovers from treatment for an enlarged prostate.
This health condition comes on the heels of the news that Princess Kate underwent abdominal surgery and is currently recuperating in the hospital.
As a result, the Queen has reportedly cautioned her husband to take a step back from public engagements following his prostate procedure.
The 75-year-old King was recently spotted for the first time since the operation on his Sandringham estate in Norfolk, where he is believed to be recuperating.
An insider revealed that the Queen has advised him to slow down, recognizing the importance of prioritizing his health.
The surge in public interest surrounding benign prostate enlargement was evident, with the NHS England website receiving a staggering 26,170 visits in the 48 hours after the announcement, compared to the usual daily average of just 1,400.
In the previous year, King Charles fulfilled 516 engagements, including 94 abroad.
