In a heartwarming turn of events, King Charles has been captured on camera embracing his grandchildren, Prince Louis, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte, in a new behind-the-scenes documentary.
This touching moment comes after Prince Harry claimed that his father never gives hugs or kisses.
The documentary, titled “Charles III, The Coronation Year,” will be aired on BBC One at 6.50pm on Tuesday, offering viewers a glimpse into the preparations for the Westminster Abbey ceremony in May.
During one of the rehearsals, King Charles can be seen giving a warm hug and a loving kiss to both Prince George and Prince Louis.
Prince Louis looks dapper in a blazer and shorts, while Prince George is dressed in a smart suit.
The affectionate king also embraces Princess Charlotte, who respectfully curtsies to him while wearing a charming light blue patterned dress and a white cardigan.
The documentary captures a lighthearted moment between King Charles and Prince William as they practice the kiss of homage, a significant part of the coronation ceremony.
Bishop of Hereford Richard Jackson, who was present during the rehearsals, expressed his admiration for the royal family, stating, “I think what struck me particularly was how extraordinarily affectionate they are.
They’re clearly a very close family, all the generations.
In a sense, you felt you’re part of a family occasion as well as a royal occasion and a national occasion.”
However, Prince Harry’s recent memoir, “Spare,” paints a different picture of the king’s relationship with his grandchildren.
In the book, Harry accuses his father of rarely showing physical affection towards his own children.
According to Harry, the older generation had strict rules against physical contact, with “no hugs, no kisses, no pats.”
He describes occasional light cheek touching on special occasions as the only form of physical interaction permitted.
