Australian pop legend and Grammy winner, Kylie Minogue, has made a surprising move by reportedly removing Meghan Markle and Prince Harry from the celebrity invitees’ list for the upcoming Billboard Women in Music Awards 2024.
As the host of the event, which will take place in Los Angeles, Kylie has stated that she does not want to associate with the couple, deeming them unwelcome at such prestigious occasions.
This decision comes as a shock to many, considering Kylie’s previous support for the royal family and her personal connections with Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince Harry.
According to Telegraph, Kylie was deeply appalled by Meghan and Harry’s recent actions and statements, which she considered to be disrespectful, dishonest, and divisive.
Specifically, she took offense to Meghan’s claims of being a victim of racism and sexism, as well as Harry’s criticism of his family and the monarchy.
Feeling betrayed and hurt by the couple’s behavior, Kylie believed that they were exploiting their royal status and fame for personal and financial gain, tarnishing the reputation and legacy of the institution they once belonged to.
Known as a role model and an inspiration for millions of women worldwide, Kylie expressed her lack of respect and admiration for Meghan as both a woman and a humanitarian.
She labeled Meghan a hypocrite, a liar, and a manipulator, accusing her of leveraging her marriage to Harry as a stepping stone to achieve her own ambitions and agenda.
Furthermore, Kylie claimed that Meghan has had a negative influence on Harry, causing him to lose his charm and charisma, becoming a mere shadow of his former self.
In light of these sentiments, Kylie, who has been praised for her professionalism, talent, and grace, made it clear that she does not wish to share the stage or the spotlight with Meghan and Harry, who have increasingly become a source of controversy and scandal.
Instead, she intends to focus on celebrating the achievements and contributions of women in the music industry, highlighting their hard work and resilience in overcoming challenges to make their mark.
Asserting her authority as the host, Kylie emphasized that she has the right to decide who gets invited to the event and does not feel the need to justify or explain her decision to anyone.
She stated that she has received the support and approval of Billboard, the event organizers, as well as her fellow nominees and performers, who share her views and sentiments.
As of now, Meghan and Harry, who have been residing in California since stepping back as senior royals in 2020, have not commented on Kylie’s snub or confirmed their attendance at the awards ceremony.
The highly anticipated Billboard Women in Music Awards 2024 is scheduled to take place on December 10, 2024, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The event aims to honor the most influential and successful women in the music industry, featuring performances by renowned artists from various genres such as pop, rock, hip-hop, and country.
