Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, known for their Netflix docuseries released in December, may have discreetly disclosed details about their daughter Lilibet Diana’s christening.
In the series, their close friend and Hollywood producer Tyler Perry shared that the royal couple had approached him to be the godfather of their daughter.
While there has been no official confirmation from the couple regarding the christening, Perry’s revelations strongly hint that the ceremony has already taken place.
Recalling the moment he was asked to be the godfather, Perry expressed his heartfelt reaction, stating, “‘I’d take a minute to take that in, and I thought I’d be honoured, I’d absolutely be honoured.”’
Furthermore, Perry mentioned proposing a private ceremony for the couple’s daughter instead of a traditional church service with all the formalities.
His suggestion was met with openness by the couple, as he recounted, “‘Maybe we can do a little private ceremony here and let that be that, and if you have to do it there, then it’s okay.'”
While the christening of Lilibet remains unconfirmed by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, speculations suggest that they are considering a ceremony in the United States.
Initially, reports had surfaced last summer indicating the possibility of a christening at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, where the couple exchanged vows and where their son Archie was baptized.
However, the couple’s spokesperson dismissed these claims, emphasizing that the christening plans for the baby are still under deliberation.
Amidst uncertainties surrounding the christening, royal enthusiasts speculate that the event might have occurred during the couple’s visit to the UK for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Despite this, there has been no official communication from the couple’s representative regarding the matter.
In the Netflix documentary, Perry also touched upon his bond with the couple, recounting how he extended his support to Meghan prior to their wedding in 2018, particularly in light of negative media coverage surrounding her father, Thomas Markle.
Addressing the potential christening of Lilibet in California, royal biographer and Majesty magazine editor Ingrid Seward implied that an official announcement might not be forthcoming.
She suggested, “They’ll have their own Vogue cameraman there.
There will definitely be photos, but they may not be released.”
The couple’s first child, Archie, was baptized in July 2019 during their tenure as working royals in the UK, with the ceremony taking place in Windsor and attended by close family members.
As the world awaits formal confirmation of Lilibet’s christening, it is evident that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are steadfast in their commitment to raising their children outside the confines of royal expectations.
The couple’s approach to parenting reflects their desire to shield their family from the rigors of royal life.
