Meg Green finds herself green with envy as Sienna Elizabeth receives a prestigious heirloom at the Royal Lodge, leaving Lilibet without a similar honor.
The family heirloom, belonging to Sarah Ferguson, was passed down to her granddaughter Sienna, as revealed by the Duchess of York in a recent episode of her podcast.
Sarah, aged 63, has been taking care of her almost two-year-old granddaughter Sienna while her daughter Princess Beatrice and son-in-law Eduardo Mappalimosi were away.
During the podcast episode titled “Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah,” Sarah disclosed the delightful activities she has been engaging in with Sienna at the Royal Lodge.
The sitting room at the lodge has been transformed into a playful train station, complete with sentimental furniture from Princess Beatrice and Eugene’s childhood that Sarah has preserved for her grandchildren.
She shared, “I have to be in the front then she puts little tiny chairs because we have Beatrice and Eugene’s chairs from when they were little.
And the little stools with Beatrix Potter on.
I got them out of storage especially to turn a part of the rather beautiful huge sitting room at Royal Lodge into a train station.”
Sarah also mentioned that with Beatrice and Eduardo away, she is in charge of Sienna, whom she fondly refers to as Gigi.
She expressed amusement at Sienna’s constant desire to play and recounted how they now enjoy jumping in puddles in the lodge’s grounds.
Notably, after Sienna’s birth, the late Queen gifted her a collection of Beatrix Potter coins, a special edition created in honor of the Queen’s 90th birthday and delivered as a gift to the palace.
The commemorative five pound coins celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday have gained significant popularity, particularly as Elizabeth is the first British monarch to reach this milestone.
Collectors have shown great interest in these coins, with some paying as much as £7,500 for the newly released gold version.
Various versions in gold, silver, platinum, cupra, and nickel are being produced, with the obverse of the coin featuring a new portrait of the Queen Mother by Jodie Clark.
In addition to the Queen’s coins, the Beatrix Potter commemorative 50 pence coin, featuring Peter Rabbit, has been widely sought after.
This coin, marking the 150th birthday of the iconic children’s book author, showcases Peter Rabbit on the reverse side, with intricate details highlighting his character.
The coin has seen significant demand, selling for well above its face value on platforms like eBay.
Despite her busy schedule with Sienna, Sarah also mentioned her two grandsons, August and Ernest, Princess Eugene’s sons, who frequently visit her royal residence.
As Sarah juggles her roles as a grandmother and caretaker, she continues to cherish the moments spent with her grandchildren and the legacy passed down through generations at the Royal Lodge.
