Megan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, recently revealed a surprising twist to her dog adoption story involving talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
In 2016, Megan claimed that it was Ellen who convinced her to adopt Bogart from a dog shelter.
She recounted the experience during an interview with Best Health magazine.
According to Megan, she was sitting with Bogart when Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi, walked in.
Although Megan didn’t know Ellen personally, the talk show host took an immediate interest in the dog.
“Is that your dog?”
Ellen asked.
When Megan replied that he wasn’t, Ellen insisted, “You have to take that dog.
Rescue the dog.”
Megan, still indecisive, found it hard to resist Ellen’s persuasive words.
“It’s sort of like if Oprah tells you to do something,” Megan added.
As the conversation continued, Ellen even suggested a name for the dog – Bogart.
Megan eventually took Bogart home, all thanks to Ellen’s influence.
However, Ellen DeGeneres has a different recollection of the events.
During an episode of her talk show following Megan and Prince Harry’s engagement announcement in 2017, Ellen confessed that she didn’t remember meeting Megan at a dog shelter or encouraging her to adopt Bogart.
With a touch of humor, Ellen told her studio audience, “That’s amazing.
I mean, she adopted a dog because I told her to.
I don’t even remember the story, actually.
But obviously, she does.
And she does whatever I tell her to.”
Ellen playfully seized the opportunity to request an invitation to Megan and Harry’s wedding, which she ultimately did not receive.
The contradiction between the two accounts left Megan feeling frustrated that her name was dropped without reason and that Ellen wasn’t invited to the wedding.
In December 2021, Megan Markle appeared on Ellen DeGeneres’ show and participated in a prank.
During the segment, Ellen instructed Megan, who wore a hidden earpiece, to perform embarrassing tasks in front of unsuspecting vendors.
These tasks included eating a Tortilla Crisp like a chipmunk, referring to herself as “Mummy,” telling jokes, and holding a crystal up to her face.
However, the prank received backlash, leaving Megan upset.
Royal expert Neil Sean revealed, “Megan is apparently taken indoors because she’s so upset about the backlash she received after appearing on the show.”
Even Prince Harry thought it would be a good idea to show Megan’s fun side, but the outcome was not as expected.
Perhaps going on the show together would have been a better choice.
In recent reports from In Touch Weekly, it is claimed that Prince Harry and Megan believe Ellen DeGeneres has developed an obsession with them.
Living in the same area of Montecito, Ellen allegedly drives the couple crazy with constant calls and unannounced visits.
The source revealed, “It’s as if she’s developed a bizarre obsession with them, calling them constantly and even turning up on the doorstep unannounced.”
While the Sussexes used to be close to Ellen, things took a turn for the worse when they noticed her clinginess.
“Ellen’s clinginess is such a turn-off now.
Harry and Megan need their space,” the insider added.
It seems that Ellen is trying to reinvent herself and believes that staying connected to Harry and Megan will help her remain relevant.
The story of Megan Markle’s adoption of Bogart has taken an unexpected turn, with conflicting memories and a strained relationship between Megan and Ellen DeGeneres.
While Megan initially credited Ellen for inspiring her to rescue the dog, Ellen claims no recollection of the event.
Furthermore, their recent interactions seem to have strained their friendship.
