The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations have caused quite a stir, as some shows and popular actors found themselves snubbed.
While there were familiar names included in the nominations, such as hit HBO show Succession leading with 14 acting nominations and being a contender for Outstanding Drama Series, other stars like Selena Gomez, Helen Mirren, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle won’t be taking home an Emmy Award as they were left out of the nominations.
Let’s take a closer look at the biggest snub at the 2024 Emmy Awards.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made waves when they released their Netflix docuseries titled “Harry and Meghan” in December 2022.
In this show, the couple opened up about their time in the royal family.
Meghan’s PR team proudly announced that the documentary broke streaming records, becoming the biggest debut for a Netflix documentary, with a staggering 81.6 million hours watched in its first four days.
It even received a nomination for the Hollywood Critics Award in the Best Streaming Non-Fiction category.
However, despite these achievements, the prestigious Emmy Awards remained out of reach for the couple.
Today, on January 15th, the 75th edition of the Emmy Awards will finally take place after being postponed due to the actors’ union strike.
Unfortunately, Meghan Markle will once again miss another red carpet event.
Alongside the Emmy snub, she was also absent from the 39th annual Santa Barbara Film Festival and the Palm Springs Film Festival earlier this week.
The news of her exclusion from these events spread like wildfire, appearing in local publications such as the Montecito Journal and other news outlets.
With no film productions under their belts in 2023, it seems there is no logical reason for the Sussexes to be present at these festivals.
However, Meghan’s PR team has reported that she is exploring alternative avenues in Hollywood as acting opportunities appear uncertain.
Since stepping back from the world of acting upon her engagement to Prince Harry in 2017, Markle is now considering roles behind the scenes, potentially as a director or producer.
PR expert Laura Perks believes that directing or producing could be a great move for Meghan, as she has proven to be skilled at directing others and ensuring they behave according to her vision.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have previously collaborated on Netflix documentaries, sharing their experiences with the royal family and documenting the Invictus Games.
With the increasing popularity of streaming platforms, there is an opportunity for Meghan to monetize her expertise and carve out a niche that aligns with her strengths.
Additionally, there is speculation about the relaunch of Meghan’s lifestyle blog, The Tig, which could potentially be even more successful than before.
However, the idea of Meghan participating in televised game shows has been dismissed by PR strategist Laura Perks, who believes it would not showcase her expertise.
Instead, Perks proposes that Meghan follow in the footsteps of King Charles and establish her own theater or performing arts center.
This venture could involve working with underprivileged and disadvantaged children, aligning with the values of Archwell, while also acting as an olive branch to the royal family.
Some view this suggestion as an impractical PR stunt, but only time will tell what path Meghan Markle will choose to pursue in Hollywood.
