Thrown out of bookstore, Katie’s dad spills that Meg got burnt as Montecito residents refused Scobie’s book.
Montecito, the picturesque town where Meghan and Harry have made their $14 million home, seems to be unfazed by the storm of controversy surrounding the royal couple.
While Omid Scobie’s book, titled “Endgame,” is making waves internationally, it appears to have barely registered in Montecito.
According to The Times, the book is not being stocked in Montecito’s main bookstore, and residents approached by the newspaper, including the father of pop star Katy Perry, had nothing to say about the new release.
It seems that the only place where the book is gaining traction is on social media, carefully promoted and purchased by Meghan’s team.
However, their organic fanbase is infinitesimal.
Mary Sheldon, the manager of Tecolote Bookshop, confirmed that they were not stocking “Endgame,” and there had been no requests for it from locals.
“I don’t know how everyone else feels about it, but in the bookstore community, they don’t seem to care,” said Sheldon.
She explained that Montecito is home to many famous individuals, so the book’s absence doesn’t make much of a difference.
Michaela Gaston Morgan, a voiceover actor and member of the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club where Harry plays polo, echoed this sentiment.
She stated that she had no interest in reading “Endgame” and wasn’t surprised that other members in Montecito shared her apathy.
“We’re surrounded by celebrities here,” she said.
Morgan expressed her disappointment with Harry and Meghan’s behavior since leaving the royal family and mentioned that the couple chose the wrong town if they were seeking attention.
The lack of interest in Scobie’s book seems to be a blow to Meghan’s ego.
As a self-proclaimed narcissist who thrives on attention, the fact that people in Montecito don’t care about “Endgame” must make her feel inadequate.
It is a series of rejections for her, as she is rejected by everyone.
In addition to the disinterest in Montecito, Scobie’s book has also failed to make an impact on the bestseller charts.
Despite a media blitz during its release week, “Endgame” has already fallen out of Amazon’s top 100 list.
In the UK, it currently ranks 139th, and in the US, it sits at 235th.
Even some of the biggest bookstores in the UK have reportedly pulled the book from window displays, with limited interest from customers.
Scobie, who made several appearances on daytime shows to promote the book, including ITV’s This Morning, seems to have failed to generate substantial sales.
The book’s lackluster performance suggests that the public may be growing tired of books about the royal family, and Scobie may have overestimated the interest in his work.
Perhaps he thought that the controversy surrounding the royals would boost sales, but it appears that Harry’s unique position as a royal author was not enough to capture readers’ attention.
In conclusion, Meghan and Harry’s book, “Endgame,” has failed to resonate with the residents of Montecito and has struggled to gain significant sales worldwide.
