Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, finds herself embroiled in yet another scandal as a former designer accuses her of stealing a dress to attend the premiere of the Bob Marley, One Love movie in Jamaica.
The designer, who prefers to remain anonymous, alleges that Markle took a dress not intended for her and failed to pay for or return it.
Furthermore, the designer claims that Markle’s actions were dishonest and disrespectful, tarnishing his reputation and damaging his relationship with his client.
Having collaborated with Markle for several years, the designer expresses shock and dismay at her behavior during the premiere at the Carib Theatre in Kingston on January 23, 2024.
Markle appeared in a black leotard-style top paired with a voluminous black skirt from Carolina Herrera, a designer she has previously worn.
According to the designer, the skirt was originally a dress he had specifically created for another famous actress who was also invited to the premiere.
It was an exquisite black silk dress featuring a fitted bodice, a flared skirt adorned with pearls and crystals, and a one-of-a-kind design.
“I had crafted this piece for a very special client who trusted me with her image and style,” the designer reveals.
The designer recounts delivering the dress to his client’s hotel room on the day of the premiere, leaving it with a note and a receipt.
To his astonishment, he later witnessed Markle wearing the altered dress on the red carpet.
Markle had cut off the bodice, transforming the dress into a skirt.
The designer asserts that Markle not only ruined the dress but also stole it from his client.
He emphasizes, “She had no right to do that, no permission.
She broke the law and my trust.”
Confronting Markle at the premiere, the designer demanded an explanation and an apology.
However, Markle responded rudely and arrogantly, denying any wrongdoing.
She claimed to have purchased the dress from a local boutique, unaware of its origin or that it was the designer’s creation.
Markle insisted that she modified the dress to suit her personal taste and body, asserting her status as the Duchess of Sussex and her right to wear whatever she pleased.
The designer describes her attitude as disrespectful and dismissive.
Motivated by a sense of duty to protect his reputation and his client, the designer has chosen to come forward and expose Markle’s alleged fashion theft.
He expresses fearlessness in the face of Markle and her lawyers, confident in the evidence he possesses.
“I have nothing to hide and nothing to lose,” he declares.
Supported by photographs, videos, documents, and witnesses, the designer maintains his professionalism and ethics, claiming that his encounter with Markle was the worst experience he has had with a client and the worst encounter with a person in his career.
