Meghan Markle, known as the Duchess of Sussex, has faced yet another setback in her acting career.
After making demands to be the director of a spinoff series and requesting an astonishing $200,000 per episode, she has been excluded from a second Suits reunion in just a matter of weeks.
The former actress, who played Rachel Zane in the popular legal drama, was offered a dream role by Nkiniversal to reprise her character in Suits: Los Angeles, a new show centered around a former federal prosecutor in the city of angels.
However, Meghan’s outrageous requests and diva attitude turned off both the network executives and her former co-stars, who decided to move forward with the project without her.
According to a senior production source, Meghan insisted on having full creative control over the spinoff and demanded to be the director and executive producer.
Additionally, she asked for a salary that would make her one of the highest-paid TV stars globally.
“Meghan is in a commanding position.
She has a ready-made fan base of millions worldwide.
She wants to use this opportunity to showcase her talents and make a statement.
She thinks she deserves to be paid more than anyone else on the show,” the source revealed.
However, Meghan’s ambitions did not sit well with the network bosses, who felt she was overestimating her value and popularity.
They also feared that her involvement would bring unwanted attention and controversy to the show, especially after her explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, where she accused the royal family of racism and cruelty.
“Meghan is a liability.
She has alienated a lot of people with her accusations and complaints.
She is not worth the trouble and the money.
The show is about suits, not Meghan Markle,” the source explained.
Even Meghan’s former co-stars, who have remained loyal to the royal family and defended them against her claims, were unhappy with her demands and attitude.
They believed she was attempting to hijack the show and overshadow their own roles.
Gina Torres, who played Jessica Pearson and will lead the spinoff, was particularly offended by Meghan’s attempt to take over her character.
“Gina is the star of the show.
She has worked hard to create and develop her character.
She is not going to let Meghan steal her thunder and tell her what to do.
She told the network that she would not work with Meghan under any circumstances,” the source revealed.
As a result, Meghan was excluded from the Suits reunion that took place at the Super Bowl, where her former co-stars Gina Torres, Rick Hoffman, Sarah Rafferty, and Gabriel Macht appeared in a commercial for ELF Cosmetics that parodied the legal drama.
Additionally, she was left out of the pilot order for Suits: Los Angeles, as announced by Variety in February.
Currently, the network is actively searching for a lead actor to play Ted Black, the former prosecutor who will partner with Jessica Pearson in the spinoff.
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle is said to be furious and disappointed by the rejection, actively seeking other opportunities to revive her acting career.
“Meghan feels betrayed and humiliated.
She thought she had a chance to return to Suits and prove herself as a director and a star.
