Members of the royal family have confirmed that Meghan Markle will not be present at King Charles’ coronation.
The much-anticipated event, scheduled for May 6th, coincides with Archie’s fourth birthday.
However, insiders close to the royal family suggest that Meghan has decided to decline the invitation, citing her responsibility to care for her children, Archie and Lilibet, as the reason.
The strained relationship between the Sussexes and the royal family has made Meghan cautious about potential awkward encounters at the ceremony.
According to a source, Meghan plans to use the excuse of looking after her children and celebrating Archie’s birthday, but it remains uncertain.
While many in the royal household expect Prince Harry to attend the coronation, regardless of Meghan’s decision, the public’s opinion on their presence is divided.
A recent poll conducted by Redfield and Wilton Strategies for Mail Online revealed that 47% of respondents were in favor of inviting the Sussexes, while 36% opposed the idea.
However, the survey indicated that fewer people supported Meghan’s attendance, with 43% suggesting she should stay home.
Interestingly, the poll also indicated that most Brits do not want Prince Andrew, who has faced controversy in recent years, to attend the coronation.
Only 26% of respondents expressed support for his presence.
In a report by the Times, it was revealed that Prince Harry insists on receiving a private apology from King Charles and Prince William before considering attending the event.
During an interview with ITV to promote his memoir “Spare,” Harry stated that the ball is now in their court.
Tensions between the two sides have escalated since the publication of Harry’s book and his subsequent TV interviews.
A source close to the royal family, however, has dismissed the notion that an apology is owed, stating that they do not recognize Harry’s version of events.
The invitations for the coronation will be sent out in two weeks, leaving many curious about the Sussexes’ plans.
Omid Scobie, a reporter with connections to the couple, claimed that their intentions are currently unknown.
As they have not yet received an invitation, they cannot make any decisions or form an itinerary.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry has announced an intimate live stream event on March 5th at 5 pm GMT to promote his book.
Hosted by the book’s publisher, Penguin Random House, the Duke of Sussex will discuss topics such as living with loss and the significance of personal healing.
The upcoming coronation is highly anticipated, and the public eagerly awaits news of the attendees.
Although it remains uncertain whether Meghan will make an appearance, her absence would undoubtedly be noticeable.
