Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, expressed her disappointment as her company, Archwell, was unable to secure a coveted $25,000 ticket for a photo opportunity at a high-profile fundraising event in Los Angeles.
The event, organized to support President Biden’s re-election campaign, will be attended by Hollywood stars such as Steven Spielberg, Shonda Rhimes, Peter Chernin, Jim Guinepoulos, Rob Reiner, and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are set to visit Southern California for this fundraising event, which marks the President’s first trip to Los Angeles since announcing his bid for re-election in April.
The couple will also attend other meetings and fundraisers, including one hosted by Jeffrey Katzenberg, a co-chair of the President’s campaign and a prominent figure in Hollywood.
According to Deadline, the event will be hosted by Michael Smith and former U.S.
Ambassador to Spain James Costas, along with a list of esteemed co-hosts.
The evening will feature a special performance by Lenny Kravitz.
Tickets for the event range from $1,000 to $3,300, with some exclusive packages priced as high as $500,000.
Those who contributed $25,000 or more were promised access to a Photo Line, providing an opportunity to capture memorable moments with the President and other distinguished guests.
Meghan Markle’s company, Archwell, reportedly attempted to purchase a $25,000 VIP ticket for the photo opportunity.
However, they refused to make any additional donations beyond the ticket price.
The decision not to contribute further raised concerns that Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, may create confusion among attendees, leading them to believe that the couple were major donors to the event.
It is expected that Meghan and Harry will make an announcement on their Archwell website, expressing their honor to join President Joe Biden and acknowledging their support for the charity.
However, it should be noted that their statement will not disclose any monetary donation, as the funds spent were solely for the purchase of the photography slot.
Unfortunately, despite their efforts, Meghan Markle was unable to secure any tickets for the event, as they were reportedly sold out.
This setback comes shortly after the White House snubbed Harry and Meghan from an event honoring U.S. veterans who participated in the 2023 Invictus Games.
The couple’s attempts to establish themselves as political players in America seem to be faltering.
Previously, they had requested to fly to the U.S. on Air Force One with President Biden after the Queen’s funeral, but their request was denied.
Additionally, Jewel, a singer and close friend of Meghan’s, chose not to attend the Invictus Games to avoid upsetting the Royal Family.
Sources reveal that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s request to accompany President Biden back to the U.S. in September 2022 was quickly dismissed, with minimal discussion about the matter.
The potential media frenzy and strain it could cause on relations with the palace and the new king were cited as reasons for the rejection.
It is disheartening to witness the couple’s attempt to exploit the death of Prince Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, for their own political gain.
Perhaps Meghan’s tearful reaction stemmed from learning of the Biden’s refusal to accommodate their request.
Their actions have been labeled as shameless freeloading by critics.
