The upcoming coronation of King Charles on May 6th is shrouded in uncertainty as the question of whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will attend still lingers.
Behind the scenes, drama seems to be brewing, with sources revealing that Meghan Markle feels left out of the planning process and is reportedly upset with Buckingham Palace’s focus on Prince Harry’s attendance.
It is no secret that King Charles desires the presence of his entire family to witness his coronation.
However, the spotlight has been firmly on the Sussexes ever since the release of their Netflix documentary series and Harry’s memoir, “Spare.”
This overwhelming attention has reportedly left Meghan feeling excluded and overwhelmed.
Although The Express recently disclosed that Harry and Meghan have received invitations to the ceremony, it remains unclear whether they will attend.
The rift with the royal family and the fact that the date coincides with their son Archie’s fourth birthday further complicates the decision.
Royal commentator Kinsley Schofield shed some light on Meghan’s emotions, stating, “Meghan’s upset and overwhelmed.
It’s not just about feeling excluded from the planning; Meghan feels like the palace is only fighting for Prince Harry to attend.
They don’t care whether she shows up or not, and that does not sit well with her.”
Schofield continued, addressing one of Meghan’s greatest insecurities: “Rejection is one of Meghan’s greatest insecurities.
She does not want to be booed or humiliated on a global scale, yet she understands that her brand in the United States increases in value with her proximity to the royal family.”
The couple has been in the news extensively lately, with their documentary series and memoir adding fuel to the fire.
In December, they released their six-part documentary series on Netflix, providing their side of the story regarding their departure from the royal family.
This was followed in January by the publication of Harry’s autobiography, “Spare,” which garnered significant attention.
In an interview with Tom Bradby, Harry expressed his openness to attending the coronation if his family attempted a reconciliation.
He stated, “There’s a lot that can happen between now and then, but the door’s always open.
The ball’s always in their court.
There’s a lot to be discussed, and I really hope they’re willing to sit down and talk about it.”
Schofield revealed that Harry had attempted to arrange a meeting with his father but was informed by palace aides that the king is too busy.
If Harry does attend, Schofield believes he will experience a sense of loneliness.
Royal author Christopher Anderson also shared his perspective, suggesting that Harry and Meghan might choose to opt out of the coronation.
Anderson cited genuine security concerns and the possibility of facing rowdy boos from the crowd.
He noted that the Sussexes are still recovering from feeling sidelined during the Queen’s funeral in September and would likely be reluctant to endure public humiliation again, especially on Archie’s birthday.
The question of whether the Sussexes will set aside their differences with the royal family for the sake of the king’s special day remains unanswered.
With tensions running high, the lead-up to the coronation promises to be eventful.
