In a rollercoaster ride of ambition, privilege, and dubious financial dealings, Meghan Markle’s aspirations of becoming a Disney princess have turned into a nightmare.
The latest twist in this ongoing saga reveals that Meghan has lost out on the role of a lifetime – voicing the character Tiana in the upcoming Tiana-animated series on Disney+.
Instead, Anna Kononi-Rose, the original voice behind Tiana in the 2009 animated film The Princess and the Frog, has been chosen for the part.
The Tiana-animated series, set to premiere on Disney+, has appointed Joyce Sherry as its lead writer and director, with Anna Kononi-Rose reprising her role as the voice of Tiana.
But why the sudden switch?
It seems that Meghan Markle’s ongoing feud with Disney’s top brass has effectively blacklisted her from the coveted role.
Meghan’s journey from Hollywood actress to royal and back to actress again is nothing short of bewildering.
After a failed marriage to Trevor Engelson, which ended after just two years, Meghan notoriously returned her wedding and engagement rings to him in a cold and classless manner.
She then embarked on a quest to marry a prince and live a life of royalty, making her ambitions clear even during a visit to London when she sat outside Buckingham Palace with her then-best friend.
While she may have secretly longed to be madame president, her ultimate goal was to secure a prince and live a life of luxury without the demands of acting.
Meghan’s opportunity seemed to arise when Prince Harry, in an awkward moment, asked Disney boss Bob Iger to consider giving Meghan a role in a Disney project.
This led to Meghan landing a part in the Disney documentary Elephants.
However, her relationship with Disney took a nosedive when she failed to secure the role of Tiana in the new series.
Originally scheduled for a 2023 release, the Tiana series has now been pushed back to 2024.
Walt Disney Animation Studios, known for their work on The Princess and the Frog, will oversee production, with Nathan Curtis as the producer and Jennifer Lee and Stella Meggie as executive producers.
But why did Disney slam the door on Meghan Markle?
It all comes down to her questionable financial dealings with the company.
In 2020, Meghan gained attention for her voiceover work in Disney’s Elephants documentary.
Initially, reports suggested that her $3 million payment for the project would be donated to the charity Elephants without Borders.
However, insiders later revealed that Meghan allegedly kept the entire sum, with no evidence of the funds reaching the charity.
This revelation caused shockwaves among critics, including Angela Levin, a vocal critic of Meghan Markle, who gleefully retweeted claims questioning Meghan’s integrity when it comes to handling charitable donations.
Accusations of fraudulent promises to charities while profiting from commercial projects have cast a dark shadow over Meghan’s relationship with Disney.
In Disney’s Enchanted World, Meghan’s fairy tale has swiftly turned into a cautionary tale.
Her pursuit of privilege, combined with questionable financial dealings, has positioned her as a controversial figure at odds with Disney’s values and reputation.
With Anika Noni Rose stepping into the role of Tiana, Meghan Markle’s Disney dreams have come to an end.
