Meghan Markle has been advised to reconsider the timing of her highly anticipated memoir, despite her eagerness to share her side of the story.
Speculation has been rife that the Duchess of Sussex is planning to write a revealing book, following in the footsteps of her husband, Prince Harry, who recently released his own memoir, “Spare.”
The couple has a four-book deal with Penguin Random House, with Meghan already having published “The Bench” in June 2021.
It is rumored that they are also working on a joint wellness book, leaving the possibility open for Meghan’s memoir as the fourth installment.
PR expert Lynne Kerratt, from Pressbox PR, acknowledged the ongoing whispers about Meghan’s memoir.
“I am sure that is still the plan and it will form part of their deal with Penguin,” she told the Mirror.
However, Kerratt emphasized the importance of timing, cautioning against a 2024 release.
She argued that the public might be overwhelmed with an abundance of stories about the couple’s private matters, potentially leading to fatigue among readers.
Meghan undoubtedly has a lot to say and wishes to address various aspects of her life, including her marriage to Harry, her relationship with Prince Charles and Camilla, as well as Kate and William.
While fans may hope for insight into her relationship with her father, Thomas, Meghan has been less forthcoming about that particular aspect of her life.
Kerratt also pointed out that many are still processing and discussing the revelations from Harry’s best-selling memoir, “Spare.”
The release of Omid Scobie’s “Endgame” towards the end of the year further reignited old debates, resulting in renewed backlash for the couple.
Considering the current climate surrounding the Sussexes, Kerratt’s advice to delay the memoir seems prudent.
With the public already inundated with stories about Meghan and Harry, releasing another deeply personal account in 2024 might risk diminishing the impact of their collective narrative.
It is crucial for the couple to gauge the public’s appetite for their story and strategically time its release to ensure maximum engagement.
