In the aftermath of Prince Harry donning a Dior suit to his father King Charles’ coronation, speculations have been circulating that Meghan Markle is on the verge of becoming a brand ambassador for Dior, joining the ranks of Natalie Portman, Jennifer Lawrence, and Anya Taylor-Joy.
However, a spokesperson for Dior in Paris has dismissed these claims, asserting that there have been no contract negotiations or recent contact with Markle.
The team at the French couture house is perplexed as to how this story came about, according to a source within Dior cited by the Telegraph.
Emily, a journalist and raw commentator, echoed the skepticism surrounding Meghan’s potential partnership with Dior, citing media reports.
She emphasized that it seems highly unlikely for Meghan Markle to become a Dior ambassador.
Emily quoted a source who claimed that Meghan embodies qualities that Delphine, Arnold’s CEO of Dior, detests in a person.
Delphine’s aesthetic aligns more with Kate rather than Meghan.
Adding fuel to the fire, a clip from a low-budget crime drama featuring Meghan has resurfaced.
In the film titled “Antisocial,” Meghan portrays fashion model Kirsten, who participates in a perfume ad photoshoot.
This scene has recently been shared on a Reddit thread.
“Antisocial” was released in the UK back in 2015 and received limited exposure, being shown in just 40 screens.
The film revolves around gang warfare and follows the story of Kirsten, who dates graffiti artist Dee, played by Greg Sulkin.
Dee’s brother Marcus, portrayed by Josh Myers, becomes involved in dangerous armed robberies, triggering a deadly gang war.
Throughout her time as a working royal, Meghan frequently wore Dior, including during the celebrations of the Royal Air Force’s 100th birthday, a royal visit to Morocco, Archie’s christening, the National Service of Thanksgiving during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, and Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
Dior has a longstanding history with the royal family, notably through its connection to Princess Diana.
The fashion house even renamed one of their bags after her.
Princess Margaret was also dressed by Dior, and Christian Dior himself described her as a delicate, graceful, and exquisite fairy princess who captured public fascination.
While the potential deal with Dior remains uncertain, reports suggest that Meghan may be interested in signing with the French jewelry company Cartier.
Experts speculate that Meghan’s inclination towards partnering with Christian Dior signifies her realization that it is easier to be a fashion icon than an advocate for social issues.
Additionally, there is a high likelihood that Harry will be involved in any agreement, as the French fashion house would eagerly embrace a royal promoting its menswear range.
Harry’s choice to wear a Christian Dior suit to his father’s coronation has been interpreted by some as a subtle endorsement for his wife or an attempt to secure work opportunities.
He has previously sported a $1000 Dior Bee shirt during a court appearance in London and wore Dior at the UN last year.
PR guru Mark Bukowski commented on the situation, noting that it remains unclear whether a deal with Dior has already been finalized or if the Sussexes are actively seeking one.
Bukowski emphasized the couple’s significant influence in the fashion industry, stating that they are highly sought-after by fashion houses.
“It’s easier to be a clothes horse than an issues warrior,” he remarked.
Bukowski suggested that this could be a case of testing the waters or an ongoing negotiation that is now coming to fruition.
