Rumors have been circulating that Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is set to collaborate with the renowned French fashion house, Dior.
However, according to a source at Dior, there is no imminent agreement with Markle, leaving the staff in Paris baffled as to how this story emerged.
The Daily Telegraph’s royal correspondent, Victoria Ward, who is known for her support of the Sussexes, took to Twitter on Monday to refute the claims.
She stated that the Duchess of Sussex is not in talks to sign a deal with Dior, dismissing the speculations.
This news comes after reports of Meghan potentially joining forces with Dior gained momentum, especially since her husband, Prince Harry, has been spotted wearing the label on multiple occasions at significant events, including King Charles’ historic coronation.
The gossip mill went into overdrive after a Beverly Hills socialite informed Mail Online about the rumors surrounding Markle’s potential collaboration with Dior.
Christopher Anderson, the author of “The King,” commented on the speculation, suggesting that a partnership between Meghan and Dior would make sense.
He described it as a tentative first step into the world of endorsements, particularly in the high-end market.
Anderson compared this potential collaboration to the Duchess of York’s endorsement deals with Weight Watchers, Wedgwood, Avon, and Charles Schwab, emphasizing that it wouldn’t be surprising for the Sussexes to follow suit.
If Meghan has indeed chosen to capitalize on her royal exit, Anderson believes it is wise to do so before her popularity diminishes.
He even suggested that she could become the face of L’Oreal, while Harry could feature in advertisements for luxury brands like Rolex or Cartier.
Such partnerships with major fashion houses often result in substantial paydays, as seen with Johnny Depp’s multi-million dollar deal with Dior and Jennifer Lawrence’s lucrative contract extension in 2014.
It is no secret that Meghan has been a longtime admirer of Dior’s makeup and designs.
She reportedly wore Dior beauty products on her wedding day in 2018 and has chosen the brand for various public appearances.
Notable instances include a navy fit and flare frock for a Royal Air Force event, a cream-colored couture gown during a tour of Morocco, and a white coat dress and hat for a Thanksgiving service during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
Markle has also turned to Dior for more personal moments, such as St Archie’s christening in 2019 and Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022, where she wore a Stephen Jones for Dior hat.
Interestingly, Prince Harry himself has embraced Dior’s creations.
He donned a suit designed by Kim Jones, Dior’s artistic director, at King Charles III’s coronation last month.
Dior’s connection with the British royal family extends beyond Meghan and Harry, reaching back to Princess Diana.
Christian Dior himself was reportedly captivated by Princess Margaret’s hourglass figure, and the late Queen’s sister became an inspiration for the designer, regularly sporting his pieces.
While the rumors of Meghan Markle partnering with Dior have been debunked, it is undeniable that her affinity for the luxury label remains strong.
Whether she will pursue endorsement deals in the future or explore other avenues, only time will tell.
For now, the Duchess of Sussex continues to captivate the world with her fashion choices, leaving us eagerly anticipating her next style statement.
