In a shocking revelation, Meghan Markle has accused Prince William of stealing the iconic engagement ring that belonged to their late mother, Princess Diana.
According to the National Enquirer, this bitter feud between the brothers was ignited when William decided to give the precious ring to his own bride, Catherine, instead of allowing Harry to pass it on to his future wife.
The ring held immense sentimental value for Harry, who had chosen it as his personal keepsake after Diana’s tragic death in 1997.
For Harry, the ring symbolized his few vivid memories of his mother, including holding her hand as a small boy.
However, fate took a different turn, and the ring ended up adorning Catherine’s finger in 2010.
It was previously believed that Harry selflessly gave up the ring, realizing that it was meant for his brother’s future wife.
But according to a courtier, this was all a lie, and Harry has harbored resentment ever since.
In his memoir, “Spare,” Harry reveals the truth behind the ring saga, stating that he never gave it to William because it wasn’t his to give.
William had already asked for the ring after their mother’s passing, and Harry was more than willing to let it go.
The courtier further explains that in 2017, when Harry fell in love with Meghan Markle and wanted to propose, his simmering resentment over the ring resurfaced.
Harry longed for Meghan to wear the same ring that Diana had received in 1981 from their father, Prince Charles.
However, it was too late, and the ring remained with Catherine.
This disappointment, coupled with his anger towards his brother’s betrayal, contributed to Harry and Meghan’s decision to step back from their royal duties and seek a new life in California.
However, Paul Burrell, a former royal servant who worked closely with Diana and the late Queen, disputes Harry’s claims.
Burrell recalls witnessing the brothers selecting pieces of jewelry to keep after their mother’s passing.
According to him, Harry had expressed his fondness for the ring, while William opted for a Cartier Tank watch that their grandfather had given Diana.
The brothers took away two very different mementos from their mother’s life.
Ironically, when William became engaged to Kate, some behind-the-scenes arrangement must have been made because Harry had possession of the ring.
It seems Harry willingly gave up his cherished treasure to his brother, ensuring it would grace the finger of William’s future wife, who would one day become Queen.
When asked about William’s reaction to Harry keeping the ring initially, Burrell states that William was content with the arrangement.
He explains that William is not materialistic and was satisfied with the sentimental value of the watch he chose.
Burrell believes that Harry’s resentment towards William stems from his envy of his brother’s seemingly perfect life, which includes Diana’s physical resemblance, her best traits, the heirship to the throne, and his relationship with Catherine.
It is clear that this ongoing feud between the brothers has deep roots, with the ring controversy serving as just one piece of the puzzle.
While Meghan’s accusation has added fuel to the fire, it remains to be seen whether this rift can ever be healed.
