Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, reportedly reached out to Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer, to discuss the possibility of inheriting Althorp House, the family home of Lady Diana Spencer.
The rumors surfaced after Harry and Meghan relocated from Frogmore Cottage, their UK residence, following a request from King Charles.
Althorp House, known for its stunning interiors and remarkable collection of furniture, paintings, and ceramics, opens its doors to visitors every summer.
Upon hearing about Althorp House being open to the public, Meghan expressed her interest in meeting with Earl Spencer privately to discuss gifting the property to her and Harry.
However, her ambitious request was met with disappointment as Charles rejected the proposition.
It seems that concerns were raised about Meghan potentially exploiting the Spencer title for financial gain, leading to the denial.
Another rumor circulating is that Meghan is now banned from the Althorp Estate.
This claim stems from an alleged incident where Meghan and Harry were allowed to visit the island where Diana’s grave is located.
It is said that Meghan squatted down beside the column marking the grave, prompting speculation that she was answering the call of nature.
However, her actions were reportedly interrupted by Harry, leaving the exact nature of the situation unclear.
Previously, there were speculations that Harry and Meghan might adopt the name Spencer to honor Princess Diana’s legacy.
However, it has been revealed that Meghan had a desire to be officially adopted into the Spencer family.
Charles Spencer rejected this proposal, expressing concerns about potential exploitation of the Spencer title for personal gain.
Journal writer Tom Bower suggests that the potential name change was not a spontaneous decision, but a calculated strategy to rebrand themselves as Harry and Meghan Spencer.
Bower also highlights that Harry drew comparisons between Meghan and his late mother, Princess Diana, whom he deeply admired.
However, Diana’s siblings and best friend failed to see any resemblances between the two women.
In his book “Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors,” Bower reveals that Earl Charles Spencer, Lady Sarah McCorkadale, Baroness Jane Fellows, and Julia Samuel, a close friend of Diana, not only failed to recognize the similarities but also expressed doubts about Meghan’s compatibility with the royal family.
According to Bower, Spencer was even asked to have a conversation with Harry about his relationship with Meghan.
This request came at a time when an article in Vanity Fair had already increased suspicions and tensions within the royal family.
By then, Meghan had been introduced to Diana’s sisters, Jane and Sarah, as well as her best friend, Julia Samuel.
Harry had hoped that they would see the shared struggles between Diana and Meghan.
However, disappointment followed as no one agreed that Meghan possessed the same vulnerability as Harry’s late mother.
Bower further reveals that during a conversation with Harry, Spencer advised him to slow down, prompting a bitter reaction from the prince.
The cautionary advice seemed to exacerbate the already tense situation.
While Meghan’s aspirations to inherit Althorp House and be officially adopted into the Spencer family were met with rejection, it remains to be seen how these rumors and alleged incidents will impact the dynamics between the Sussexes and the wider royal family.
