A new book by author Tom Bower has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, particularly among the royal and celebrity circles.
Bower, renowned for his biographies on high-profile figures such as Boris Johnson, Meghan Markle, and Robert Maxwell, is currently engrossed in his latest project centered around David and Victoria Beckham.
However, what has caught the attention of many is the revelation that Bower’s book will also delve into the highly publicized feud between the Sussexes and the Beckhams.
For Bower, this endeavor has proven to be more exhilarating and captivating than he initially anticipated.
He expressed his excitement, stating that the subject matter encompasses everything one could hope for in a compelling narrative – s**, fashion, celebrity, and money.
The Beckham family, known for their meticulously managed public image, has had its fair share of scandals over the years, including rumors of infidelity, tax avoidance controversies, and leaked emails exposing David’s frustration over not receiving an honor from the Queen.
Despite the Beckhams’ considerable resources, which they could potentially use to suppress the book, Bower remains undeterred.
In fact, he sarcastically remarked that any attempts to hinder his work would only serve as encouragement, adding, “I wouldn’t dream of writing anything negative.”
According to Bower’s claims in his article for The Sun, the rift between the Sussexes and the Beckhams began when Meghan grew concerned that their friends would overshadow them in the media.
Bower alleges that Prince Harry distanced himself from David due to Meghan’s apprehensions.
Furthermore, Meghan supposedly disliked the footballer’s friendship with Prince William, as it reportedly bothered the Sussexes that the two had developed a strong bond during England’s World Cup bid in 2010.
Bower also asserts that Meghan was frustrated with Victoria, who, as a former Spice Girl turned fashion designer, was hesitant to provide her with free clothes and accessories from her label.
These requests supposedly violated palace rules.
However, the biographer acknowledges that David and Victoria initially showed kindness toward Meghan when she first moved into Harry’s cottage in Kensington Palace in 2017.
In an attempt to foster their relationship, Victoria even offered Meghan makeup advice, and one of her staff members assisted Meghan with facials and hairdressing.
Nonetheless, the Sussexes allegedly suspected that the Beckhams were leaking stories about Meghan’s association with Victoria to the press, a claim Victoria vehemently denied, leaving David feeling furious.
Additionally, the Beckhams graciously hosted Meghan at their six-bedroom house in Beverly Hills, California before her marriage to Harry.
During her stay, the couple’s staff attended to Meghan’s needs without charge.
However, when it came time for the royal wedding, Harry and Meghan decided not to invite the Beckhams to the dinner reception, despite extending an invitation for them to attend the ceremony at St George’s Chapel.
Bower suggests that this exclusion was an almost unforgivable insult, especially considering that many Hollywood stars who attended the dinner were not close friends of the couple.
David found this move perplexing but chose not to confront Harry about it.
During their stay in a rented house in North Shore, Sydney, David and Victoria barely mentioned the incident.
The Sussexes’ apparent disapproval of the Beckhams’ friendship with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge was further exacerbated last year when David flew from Qatar to Boston during the World Cup to support William and Catherine in their philanthropic endeavors.
The American media heavily covered the moment when David kissed Catherine on the cheek during the Earthshot Prize ceremony, which she co-hosted with her husband.
This event seemingly overshadowed a gathering organized by the Sussexes in New York that same weekend, and according to Bower, it only intensified the ongoing feud.
