In the highly anticipated sixth season of Netflix’s popular drama series, ‘The Crown,’ there seems to be some subtle insults aimed at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
While the show does not cover their story in the present day, it takes creative liberties and includes hints at current events, particularly in Princess Diana’s storyline.
‘The Crown’ is known for its fictionalized portrayal of historical events, combining real-life occurrences with made-up stories for greater impact.
Over its six seasons, the show has featured a talented cast that changes every two years to accurately represent the aging of the characters.
Season 6 introduces new actors, Rufus Camper and Flynn Edwards, who portray William and Harry, respectively.
However, ‘The Crown’ will not reach the present day, as its timeline ends around 2004.
This means that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s romance and subsequent events will not be covered in the series.
Despite this, the show manages to make references to current events, particularly in an episode where Queen Elizabeth II, played by Imelda Staunton, discusses Princess Diana’s role in the royal family.
Queen Elizabeth reflects on Diana’s desire to continue being involved in the family’s work and using her talents to help people.
However, due to her divorce from Prince Charles, Diana is now learning the difference between being officially in or out of the royal family.
The Queen’s line, “It’s hard to be half in anything.
You’re either in or out,” seems to be a direct insult aimed at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Interestingly, Prince Harry himself has acknowledged watching ‘The Crown’ and fact-checking everything.
In the documentary ‘Harry and Meghan,’ also available on Netflix, he mentioned his desire for a “half-in, half-out” approach to being in the royal family.
It appears that Netflix intentionally included this dialogue as a subtle dig at the couple, especially considering their tumultuous working relationship with the streaming platform.
Before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their senior roles in the royal family in 2020, Harry was determined to prevent Netflix from portraying him in ‘The Crown.’
Royal biographer Angela Levin revealed that during an interview at his palace, Harry asked her if she was watching the show.
Although Levin initially had no interest in it, she agreed to watch it at Harry’s suggestion.
However, he made it clear that he would not allow the show to depict him, stating, “I’ll stop it before they do that.”
Levin also mentioned that despite Prince Harry’s business dealings with Netflix, the streaming giant seems to disregard his opinions.
She speculated that they may portray him as a mischievous little boy who drinks, smokes, and harbors resentment towards his brother.
While Harry did engage in some rebellious behavior during his time at Eton, seeing himself depicted in such a manner is disheartening for him.
It appears that the partnership between Netflix and the Sussexes has soured significantly.
The public jokes and commentary about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in relation to ‘The Crown’ suggest that the relationship is beyond repair.
If Netflix wanted to maintain a positive rapport with the couple, they would likely avoid making such remarks.
This leads many to believe that the streaming platform has completely severed ties with the Sussexes.
