Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s highly anticipated docuseries for Netflix is reportedly facing the risk of being cancelled.
According to commentator Dan Wooten, it was almost inevitable that tensions would arise between the streaming giant and the Sussexes.
It seems that Netflix is demanding its fair share, while the couple finds themselves struggling to meet expectations.
Recent reports suggest that Prince Harry and Meghan are considering removing certain sections from their upcoming docuseries, particularly those related to the passing of the Queen.
Wooten claims that the couple has come to a painful realization that much of the interest surrounding them from the American media and the public stemmed from their connection to the royal family.
However, maintaining this proximity to the monarchy, now under the leadership of Charles, proves to be an impossible task while simultaneously waging a public campaign against him and his wife, Camilla.
Interestingly, royal expert Neil Sean recently revealed that Netflix is delaying the release of the docuseries due to concerns about the lack of quality content.
“You have the Invictus Games in the Netherlands, a bit of footage in New York, but they’re not allowed to use the footage from the Queen’s state funeral, and you have a little bit from when they came over for the Platinum Jubilee,” Sean stated, highlighting the limited material available.
Sean also dismissed ongoing claims that Netflix is hesitant to release the docuseries because they want to edit out any unfavorable remarks made by the couple about the King and Queen Consort Camilla.
On the other hand, Richard Eden, editor of the Daily Mail, alleged that Netflix is stalling the project because it lacks the necessary drama.
He emphasized the importance of tension and drama in creating an engaging fly-on-the-wall documentary, suggesting that without these elements, the series would be uninteresting.
Eden further pointed out the irony of the situation, noting that while the Sussexes have been keen on keeping their children out of the public eye, they showcased Archie during their interview with Oprah Winfrey.
He suggested that if Netflix is investing a substantial amount of money, they would likely expect to see glimpses of the couple’s children as well.
The future of Prince Harry and Meghan’s docuseries remains uncertain, with potential cancellations looming.
As the couple navigates their new path outside the royal family, they face challenges in meeting the demands of both Netflix and the public’s expectations.
